Having my coffee. Contemplating my day. At least I slept well and that always helps. 👍 Up before alarms went off.

Hard, heavy rains to end my day yesterday, more predicted for mid day into evening today. A lot of pop up stuff from heat/humidity as a cold front arrives. :idunno anyway -- it's wet!! Had an inch in half hr yesterday.

Water is good this time of year, We badly are in need of rain, a huge cedar behind the house, died-- top to bottom , so sad to see,,

I hear you we need more rain also. I watered the orchard yesterday evening. I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that I need to figure out something better. I'm already at 300 foot of watering hose and it's only going to require more hose as I expand the orchard. The positive is, once the young trees establish and their root grow deeper into the soil the less they will need supplemental watering.

Currently I need to get a handle on peach shot hole. Spraying copper as directed seems to be helping tremendously. Just a word of caution, more than is directed is NOT better. ALWAYS follow the directions on the label. But the prevention or eradication really comes from dormant and post dormant sprays, since the fungus overwinters in dormant leaf and flower buds and multiplies in rainy season in spring.

I'm trying my best to stay organic, but I'm not going to let them die either. I will do what is necessary to keep them growing and healthy, we'll see how it goes. Thankfully time is also on my side, as the peach trees mature, susceptibility also decreases.

I'm not complaining about my rain!!! Nope, thankful to have it! 🙏. But I did find myself out in it yesterday and the downpour soaked me -- like dripping clothes wet. But that young goat needed to be rescued from having his foot twisted up in top of fence. Me wet or him stranded, standing on hind legs, possibly breaking front one caught up -- well, there was only one choice! ☺️ I dried up just fine.

Creal: out west we use micro irrigation. Its a tiny spray around the perimeter of the fruit and nut trees in orchards. Some proponents say it saves water, vs other say it does nothing to recharge the ground water (flood irrigation)
I'll need to research "mico irrigation" thank you. I was thinking about loops of soaker hose around the fruit trees. T them off a main 1/2" PVC trunk line. Slightly bury the PVC trunk so the lawn mower doesn't tear it up. I could blow the trunks out with air for winter so they don't burst.

But like everything else PVC pipe and fittings are 📈 and I'm looking at some pretty long rows as I start expanding the production orchard.

Hope the goat is fine,
We are never to old to play in the rain, as a kid I was a professional puddle stomper 🥰

We had friends & neighbors over for cookout. Everyone brought something to eat. We cooked corn, burgers and hotdogs. Everyone left smiling with full bellies 👍

I learned how to tell when corn boil is done. Just sniff the steam if it smells like corn it's done. Didn't even test the corn and it was perfectly cooked 👍 very good sweet corn my neighbor snuck on our porch, we have zero bakers dozen cobs left 😁

Chickens got eaten cobs and turkeys will get boil water tomorrow it's needs to cool overnight first. No part of the cobs were wasted. I really like when that happens 👍
