Dawn, I wonder how many people that don't know us would understand why that type of trip would be so thrilling to you. I know I've watched game shows where the prize is a trip to NYC, or someplace else and I think yuck!, I sure don't want to go there. However if the prize were a trip to a dude ranch, or on a cattle drive, I'd be green w/envy!

I hear ya, Deb! :hugs

Good civilized visit at Mom's yesterday! :D I called before heading over there to ask about the aparagus plants from my sis, mainly to see if there was anything to it. Mom replied, "Oh yeah, there are plenty and they're going home with you".

Apparently, the asparagus was just part of a flower bed and no one ever ate it...they used it for the pretty, ferny foliage. :hu

Mom let me know that she was glad I convined her to go over and check them out because they were in the back of sis' truck just sitting on the black bed liner, in full blazing sun. So mom bagged them up, brought them home and gave them some much needed water. She also brought home a ton of Iris and a Crepe Myrtle in baaaad shape. That was also just thrown in the back of the truck with nothing around the roots so the leaves are crispy. Mom has that soaking in some water and I'll get it planted for her when we go back on Saturday.

Well, I'm going to get off of here and go play in the asparagus roots and see just how many I have...what a terrible, terrible example of "watch what you wish for"! :gig Will be back later with some pix of my new treasure trove!

:drool Sweating, not drooling...we just hit 93 here so outside chores are on hold! :th Just took the buns out a frozen bottle to lay against and they looked at me like I was nuts. Oh well, not the first time I've ever gotten that look and I know it won't be the last! :gig

Got the Asparagus crowns sorted out and have about 30 of them in varying sizes. Have them crammed together in a 20 gallon tub until I can get them planted in the garden. I'll plant the best looking crowns in the already established asparagus bed and will plant the rest, that don't have any evidence of growth, around the property We have these odd-looking scooped out spots, here and there, which are about 12+" deep and they'll be perfect once I add soil, bunny poo and leaf mulch.

Since they are from an elderly womans flower bed, the odds are extremely favorable for them being an heirloom variety! YES!!! :celebrate

Now for some pix of things that are growing well here:

The Cilantro is close to 5 foot tall:

My Hungarian Blue Breadseed Poppies are blooming up a storm:

And my wild lemon tree seedlings. These are from a lemon I'd harvested last year, forgot about and recently came across again. Decided to plant the seed just to see what would happen. :th I'm repotting some for the family and I think that I'll use the rest of them to get my hedgerow project started.

Hope everyone is having a cooler, more pleasant Tuesday than we are! :hugs

I feel for ya on that fence job, WBF! :hugs

It's supposed to be just as hot for the rest of the week, so I'll be firing up the AC tomorrow since doc is working nights so he can get some decent sleep. ;)

Been running the soaker hose most of the late afternoon, once certain areas were shaded. Doc will get me up in the morning, when he gets home from work and I'll start mulching what I got soaked today. Sheesh, I am already so over "summer" and it's not even officially here yet! :gig

94 outside...78 in the Brokedown Palace! :tongue How ya like me now, hot weather! :gig

Didn't get up early, like I planned on. Started with a killer headache in the wee hours of the morning so I really didn't get much sleep last night. :th Suspect it's just from sinuses as it's been windy the past couple days and it's blowing the dust and pollen around.

I'll break down and get busy outside in about an hour as far as dragging the soaker hose to the next area and getting mulch down. Don't feel like messing with it but it needs to be done, sigh! :/

If only we could have our own personal clones or something that would only be around when we need to get stuff done and don't feel like it.

Funny you brought up clones, Deb, as I just had that conversation with the family!

Aunt: How are you doing, hon?

Me: Okay, but I'd be better off if there were more hours in the day and several more of me to get everything done.

Dad: Well kid, you better put your request in that the clones are more graceful than you or else you'd just be asking for trouble.

We all got a good giggle from dads' response. :gig

Soaker hose is busy and in an already mulched bed so saved myself that part of the job, for now. Will have to mulch the next bed, though so I may put that off until tomorrow morning since the headache is finally gone and I can breathe again. ;)

Will be doing more seed planting and seedling transplanting tomorrow, also, since we're coming out of a barren period (according to the Farmer's Almanac. Will probably clean the rabbit poop trays too, as long as it isn't as windy as it has been. :fl

All the critters are fed and rewatered and the sawdust toilet is emptied.

Well, I'm out of here for now... :frow

Pretty productive day here. :D It was overcast all day unti 6 p.m. and the temp never got over 80F! :celebrate It looked like it wan't to rain, all day, but we never saw a drop...this is getting depressing. :hit

I got a lot of soaking and mulching done but didn't do any planting as I side-tracked myself and took a walk in the woods, instead. It was a great walk but I'm paying for it now and have been pulling seed ticks for quite awhile! :barnie I had only planned on hauling in some deadfall but the flowers caught my eye and I lost all restraint! :gig HAD to go get the camera and get pix! Before I knew it, I was back at the 'sang patch and am truly amazed at how tough those little plants are. :bow

On the way to the patch, I nearly had heart failure when the leaves exploded a few feet off to my left...I'm fairly certain that I accidently flushed a pair of Chuck-will's widow. They got me the last time I was back there, too, but I was actually able to see them today!

Got the buns' poop trays cleaned this evening (after I aired up the tires on the wheel barrow) so I added some soil and peat moss to it and will add that to the raised bed that I plan on planting my 'maters and peppers in...I know they'll appreciate it! :D

And some of the 'sang. These babies are beasts, to be growing so well with little to no rain and no care (by me), whatsoever! :
