No snow but we had to break the ice on some of the water troughs this morning. About 19 degrees when we left home this morning. I'm a FL girl and have to get the hang of layering my clothes.

The roads weren't too bad this morning, but the cold was terrible! The bunnies water bottle was frozen solid, so I took them another one. I also took the goats some extra hay and water. Then, I headed to the farm. At least w/the auto waterer, I didn't have to break the ice for the horses, but the cat's water, and the chicken's water was frozen solid. Plus, I couldn't find Rerun this morning. I drove a bit slower than normal since I wasn't sure what kind of road conditions I was going to find. The roads weren't too bad. And, I still made it to church early. I think Pastor is starting to realize that he's going to have to buy me coffee soon.

By the time I got back out to the farm to give Storm his 2nd feeding, the cat's water was starting to freeze again. So, I did dump and refill that B4 I left. The chicken's water was fine-probably because it's right in the sun. But, starting tomorrow, when I go to feed the chickens I'm going to be carrying a BB gun. When I went to check on their feed this morning, there was a rat in their feed! It just stood on it's hind legs and looked at me, then jumped out the top and ran off. If I had had the gun, I would have shot it. I don't know if it's strong enough to kill a rat, but it might have given it something to think about!

When I got home, I checked on the bunnies water. And, while it wasn't frozen, the nipple to the bottle was. So, I took it inside and let that thaw out-it didn't take long. But, here's the big news for the day.

WHEN I WALKED IN THE HOUSE, MY HUSBAND WAS AT THE SINK DOING DISHES!!!!!!!!!! He not only unloaded the dishwasher, but he reloaded it, ran it and then washed up a bunch of stuff that we don't put in the dishwasher! :th

Only problem being, I could probably count on 1 hand the number of times he's done dishes in almost 30 years of marriage. :/

It would be nice if he'd do some more, or if our DD would. I still can't do everything like I used to be able to do, and have to be very careful when I do some of the stuff I do. (I probably should not be doing firewood right now.) But, I was able to do some dusting today. I didn't attempt on top of the piano-I have an upright and I normally have to climb on the piano bench to dust that and take off everything on there which means a lot of up and down. I also ran the vacuum cleaner a bit. I found that it still bothers me to vacuum. I can fold up clothes, so I did some of that. I can also sweep, so I did some of that. Tomorrow, I'll try and get some of the kitchen clean.

I started collecting eggs today. Angel laid one and RU has 1 chicken that lays green eggs. She laid one. So, I have those 2 for now. I'll be getting it set up in the not too distant future and hope I have better luck this year than I did last year. If not, I'm seriously thinking of getting a better incubator. Hubby is wishing now that he had bought the one I wanted last year. He thinks it would have been a better investment.
