They've changed the forecast which means I have to change my plans. They went from calling for a nice day, to a chance of some light rain/snow overnight to 1-3 inches of snow. Then, Sunday is supposed to be cold and windy. I was going to clean out my truck today. And, I was going to get hay tomorrow and hopefully wood. I'll be calling my hay guy and see what he says about delivering the hay next week instead. I didn't clean out my truck, and I was just able to get my generator in the back of my truck by myself. As soon as I've relaxed on here for a few, I'll be going out and doing wood.
And, I'm already tired. I had therapy this morning. Then, I got some gas for the generator and my mower, then cleaned some of my field. My guys weren't quite out of hay, and if it wasn't for the weather, I would have just thrown a square bale on top of what they already had. Instead, RU put one of my RBs out. That means what was left over from the last RB won't get eaten-I know my horses.
I'm beat! I was just going to go back in the woods and cut up some stuff that was already down. Well, that didn't happen! There's a bar across the dirt road, and I couldn't get it to budge! So instead I drove along side of my fence-but on the neighbor's property-towards the back. Then, I turned the truck around, and backed partially into the woods. I was hoping I'd be close enough to some standing dead trees to be able to leave the generator in the back of the truck. No such luck. But, I was able to cut down 2 smallish cherries and 2 smallish oaks. I won't cut trees that are much bigger than this. Then, I loaded them all in the back of my truck, and put the generator back in. That gave me about half a truck load of wood. And, there's still a bit more in that general area.
Once I had everything loaded in the truck, I drove back into my driveway, and backed up to where I do the wood. I got the generator out, put it away, fed the goats so they'd shut up, and started doing wood. I had to split some of what I cut, and there were a couple of pieces I couldn't split! But, I have enough wood cut, split and stacked to last at least until Monday. And, that wasn't all the wood. The rest is in my wood shed so it will stay dry. I'll start working on what I have in there on Monday. I should have enough wood to last until next Saturday! Then, hopefully hubby can figure out how to get that pipe out, and I can drive back in the woods and get a bunch more.
Angel is doing a good job of laying. I've gotten 4 eggs from her this week! So, starting on Sunday, I'm going to save her eggs. Then, either next Saturday or Sunday, I'll be putting them in the incubator along w/a couple of white eggs from RU's leghorns. I'm not that great at candleing eggs, and I've read it's easier to learn how to do it w/white eggs, so hopefully, I'll be able to finally tell whether or not they're developing.
Winter is almost over, but if you look out my window, it looks like it's just begun. It's snowing. And, even though we only have about an inch, if that, it's the most snow we have all winter.
I am tired and a bit sore. Other than doing some dishes, and making some laundry detergent, there is NOTHING, other than normal animal chores, that needs to be done. So, for today and tomorrow, I'm not planning on doing anything more than I have to.
Hubby came down in the basement yesterday and looked at the wood I was able to get. He was impressed. I'm hoping since he's seen this and knows there's so much more, he'll stop talking about getting firewood. I hate to buy firewood. I have yet to buy any that's completely seasoned as well as the right size, so I end up cutting it and splitting it anyway.
Other than making my laundry soap and doing normal animal chores, I did nothing today. I slept until I woke up, which was nice and will be doing the same tomorrow. And, as much as I don't want to do it, it looks like I'm going to have to wash some clothes tomorrow. I didn't want to, but hubby is out of undershirts and it's going to be cold and windy tomorrow, so I have to.
I'm also going to have to do some dishes. I don't have very many left that are clean. I was too tired yesterday, and just wore out today, so it felt good to sit back and take it easy for once. And, if I feel up to it, I'll also do some work on the taxes tomorrow. I'm hoping we get a nice refund back. I much prefer that to having to pay. And, I'm also going to tell hubby that I want to see all the bills that we have. It will take me awhile, but I can sit down and figure out how long it will take us to pay them all off. I know they probably have something on line that would make the calculations for me, but I still have long stretches during the day when I'm not able to do much, or need to sit back and take it easy. I'm kind of tired of playing computer games and reading, so this will give me something to do. Come spring, I hope to sell everything I can and maybe even pay off some bills quicker, or at the very least, work on finishing the house. It would be nice to actually get that done.
I did go for a short walk today w/my son. Hubby went w/me (or should I say I went w/hubby) out to the farm this morning. We then hit the Amish market and a supermarket. When we got home, our son's car was in the driveway, but no sign of him. I called him on the phone. He was in the woods walking his dog, so I went out and met him. It was kind of funny. His dog loves me, but she wasn't sure who I was when I started walking out to them, and she was barking and growling at me. Once she figured it out though, she was fine. I didn't know that he and his friends had made paths out there when they were younger. They are still partially visible. I think w/just a little bit of work, I can make them good enough so I can bring Misty home at times and ride her in the woods. I've always wanted to do that, but w/the trouble we had w/the former owner, I couldn't. However, I don't see that being a problem w/the guy that owns them now. I think he appreciates that I keep an eye on the woods. Oh, and my son was able to loosen the bar so I'll be able to drive in there next time I need wood!
Woke up yesterday morning to some snow, not a whole lot, but more than I had seen all winter. Then, even though the sun didn't come out all day, it warmed up enough to melt the majority of it. Late yesterday afternoon, it started snowing again. It wasn't supposed to do anything. I got up this morning and we have about an inch of the white stuff on the ground! And, today it's going to remain cold. So, instead of taking my truck out to the farm today, I'm taking my hubby's Durango. He has 4 wheel drive, I don't. I have no idea what kind of condition the roads are in, so I'm all for taking it instead. My next truck WILL have 4 wheel drive.
I did the "wake up when you wake up thing " yesterday. It was nice. I slept in til 6:00. Which is a whole 30 minutes longer than normal. Today was a little better. I slept til 6:15 but probably only because the dog woke me up at 3:30 needing to go outside. I am like, what, the coldest night of the winter and you need to go NOW.
Everyone needs those lazy do nothing more than you absolutely have to days. As for the dishes. What the heck. Wash them as you need them. LOL
'they' say a possibility of a little snow for me about Tues if that storm comes my way. HOPE NOT.
mts. are getting it tho. Mom and Dad cancelled their mt. trip to Cherokee to Harrahs for anniversary. Mom said no way she was taking any chance of snow in the mts. at 82 she wasn't it the mood for any traffic drama HAHA
lazy easy days are wonderful! I enjoy the hound out of them now.
