Congrat's on the Silkies, Deb! :celebrate

We used to have some as doc loves them and they are wonderful broodies but...ours stayed broody all of the time. That got aggravating for me because I loved to use their eggs for baking but they went broody every other egg laid, it seemed like. I have a problem with patience, bet ya can't tell, huh? :gig

Congratulations on your silkies!!!! I am learning from all of you! DH says we will buy chicks, no incubator. If we have broodies, we will have more chicks. Love to see a photo!

I called one TSC and asked them if they had any chicks. The guy told me yes. I asked him, what kind? He told me pullets. :he I had to explain to him that all that meant was that they were female, so I asked him what breed. He told me tetras. Then, he started to tell me what THEY were. I told him I already knew. I really wish this one TSC had people working there that actually KNEW what they were talking about. :hu

the tsc in jackson only has EE's and Production Reds...
theyll special order meaties in if you want a minimum of 25 lol.

banties are great if your looking for big attitude, and cute little eggs...they do tend to be good little layers (i think its 3 banty to 1 standard egg) and the silkies as a banty make excelent brooders. (ive personally seen silkies try to brood everything from chicken to goose and turkey eggs lol.

i like bantie eggs for things like deviled eggs, they make the perfect bite sized noms lol.

In defense of one TSC, the one in Albion, MI had the brains to hire a 'retired' farmer - his son took over, and he wanted something to do - poor guy runs around like a chicken with its head cut off (get it? cuz we're talking chicks?! I crack me up! :gig ) because EVERYBODY taps him for answers.

We have 4 TSCs in this area. The one I was in today I don't normally go in. The one I do normally go in is pretty good. But the one I called, is nuts! More than once I've had to tell them something to help either myself or someone else that was in there.
