I know, and I DON'T need another rooster! (Unless it's a silkie!)

He's liked that one since it hatched out. I'm thinking it might be a pullet. Time will tell.
If you look at it and look at the wings during the first three hours of life or slightly longer you can tell whether it's a pullet or cockerel

Well, there were only 2 that hatched out, and the wings on this one did look a bit longer. But, I could be wrong.

It isn't length. It has to do with the feather structure. There are some good videos on how to distinguish the males from the females.
It isn't all that hard to do. Folks who work in factories do it hundreds of times an hour.
You can find the videos on YouTube.
Hope this helps.

Today I was really beat, so I didn't get a whole lot done. Instead, I went back to bed after hubby left. Once up, I went out to the farm. And, here's my lessons for today.

1. Cleaning my field w/the mower and the dump cart is definitely faster than doing it by hand! I haven't really cleaned the field for quite some time now. For one thing, it kept raining. And then I had my operation. I started cleaning a bit B4, but hadn't gotten much done. As of right now, I have almost ALL of it cleaned. I had to leave today, other wise it would have been all done. (It will be tomorrow.)

2. Honey can move fast if she wants to. I wore a long sleeved shirt over a tee this morning since it was still pretty cool when I left. But, I got warm while working. So, I took my long sleeved shirt off and put it on the mower seat. And for quite some time it was fine there. Then Honey got bored. She went over to the mower and grabbed it! I wasn't quick enough to chase her off. And, once she had that shirt, she didn't want to let it go! She ran off w/it! At least she didn't go far, then dropped it. Now I have a big stain on my shirt. :rant

3. I need to keep the door to my tack shed closed if I'm making something to eat. Even though it was only pancakes, Cindy had to come in and get in the way. She jumped up on the cot. Normally, it's not a problem. Well today I had some eggs on the cot. I also had a head band that I use to cover my ears while riding-it keeps the wind out. When Cindy jumped up on the cot she knocked an egg and my head band down. The egg broke, and went all over my head band! :barnie

4. I finally found out why I couldn't see anything when I tried to candle my eggs. I finally took the eggs that didn't hatch out. I had one that was fully developed, but never pipped. I had one that was partially developed. :hit Both of those were in eggs that had really dark shells that I couldn't see thru anyway. The lighter eggs didn't develop at all. So, either the roosters aren't getting those girls, or the roosters are infertile.

Today I got my field cleaned! :ya And I know that I won't fill up the cart completely when I pick it now, so I'll start on the stalls tomorrow. But, I had a bit of a scare, and almost got hurt getting out of the field.

All of the horses were standing around the gate when I went to get out. I shooed them away, opened the gate and got partway out. The horses came back to the gate. I got off and shooed them away, got back on and started going thru again. They came back. So, I went to get off again. I THOUGHT it was in neutral, but it wasn't! It was in reverse. I had my right leg still on, my left leg off. I was able to get back on w/out any mishaps. And, I jackknifed, so that stopped the mower. I got back on, drove back out again, put it in neutral, checked to be sure it was in neutral and then proceeded to get off. And again, it went in reverse. This time, I wasn't able to get back on as quick. I don't know exactly what I did, but my knee hurts and I scraped all the skin off of my leg in one spot. But again, it jack knifed, so I was able to get on, put it in drive, and get out of the field. Once again, I put it in neutral. This time, I stayed on for a few seconds to be SURE it wasn't moving. Then, I grabbed a lead rope, swung it in big circles and finally managed to get the horses to go far enough away so that I could get out of the field, shut the gate and then put the mower away. So, now I'm not doing much of anything.
