Put it on top. :D

I decided to recandle the eggs and put a check mark on all the ones I saw something in. Out of KN's 12 eggs, I saw veins in 4. I have about 24, not really sure how many. And, out of those, I have at least 14 developing! :ya Maybe I should use this smilie since I'm not able to jump or run yet. :celebrate

Awhile back, I got an organic sweet potato so I could hopefully get some slips and grow me some sweet taters. I love baked, candied and french fried. And I was all excited when I got a shoot. Then I got a few more, then nothing. I kept waiting and waiting and waiting for them to do something. The one got to about 2 inches tall and that was it. I kept waiting for the root system to develop, nothing.

This morning I decided I had waited long enough. There is basically nothing there that I could plant. So, I decided to cut that section off and put it in water in the hopes that they'll grow big enough for planting. I got out a knife, took the tater out of water and realized it didn't really look that healthy. In fact, it seemed kind of spongy. I cut it. It was rotten! The only section that's"healthy" is right were the slips are trying to develop. I now have that section sitting in a small bowl of water and am hoping I'll get something.

I thought this would be easy. Looks like I was wrong. If I don't get anything, looks like I'll be buying my slips. :/

Awww. :( I don't know about sweet potatoes but I usually just buys ome at the store, leave them in the house to create offshoots and then I start to plant them. I haven't planted in 2 years and still keep having taters come up in my garden. Maybe that will work for you?

Sweet taters (actually mine are yams) are different than regular potatoes. It's very hard to sprout the store bought ones. I've tried, but never had any luck since they spray them w/something. The organic ones aren't sprayed and it was supposed to work. I did everything the way I was supposed to. It just didn't work the way it was supposed to.

I decided to take a much needed break today for much of the day. They changed the forecast. It wasn't supposed to rain until this afternoon. I had gotten clothes out on the line late yesterday, but they hadn't completely dried. But since they weren't calling for rain until the afternoon, I had planned on going out to the farm shortly after hubby left for work. I figured by the time I got home, the clothes would be dry and I could take them down. Well I looked at the radar this morning and they were showing rain moving into the area! So, after he left, I went and got the clothes down, threw them in the dryer for a bit, took out the recyclables and trash, and went back to bed. I'm not sure how long I slept, but it did rain. It had stopped by the time I got up. I checked the radar and since nothing was showing, I went out to the farm. I'm trying to plan my day so that I leave the house by around 7:00 and get back by 1:00. Then that would leave me plenty of time to not only do stuff at the farm, but also get stuff done here. Needless to say, that didn't happen today.

I got to the farm, fed my horses as well as CL's. KN showed up, but not for long. And she was not dressed for the weather! For some reason, she thought it was going to be a nice, warm day. I was in jeans, long sleeved shirt, muck boots, a vest and a light jacket. She was in capri's, flip flops and a tank top! I collected her eggs for her since she wasn't dressed for the mud. She left shortly thereafter. I got my chickens fed. By then, CL's horses were done eating, so I turned them loose. I hadn't hooked the cart back up to my mower the other day, so I did it this morning. KN called all upset about something, don't recall now what it was. But, my phone was beeping at me, so I was able to get rid of her easily. Then I started the mower up so I could scoop poop.

Because of putting the seed down, I couldn't drive in the way I normally do. I'm walking across that area to feed the horses and that's only because there's no other way to do it that's easy. (Though I guess I could just put the stuff in my cart and drive it in) I have to go thru the front gate, so that means I have to unlock that gate and take my lunge whip w/me. Otherwise, a certain bratty pony named Licorice will try to escape. I had 3 buckets of sand w/me, so they were put into the cart. I get in the field, close the gate behind me and drive up to the run-in. Misty was still in her stall, so I opened that up and let her out. I then proceeded to dump the sand in the puddle. That spot it getting firmer and firmer all the time! W/this rain, I can see what a difference it's making. Everyday I have to drive out, I'm taking more sand w/me. I'm hoping it won't take as long to dry out once the rain stops again. Then B4 I started to scoop poop, I let Stormy out in RU's backyard then get to work. I didn't touch the field yesterday. Today, I got a whole cart full, and figured that was enough. I went and dumped that, went and picked up my buckets, then got out of the field and locked it behind me.

It wasn't quite 2 hours since Stormy had gotten his first feeding. I hadn't finished bagging his feed yesterday because I had run out of the rice bran I put in. Well, I got more, and took some out w/me. So, I finished bagging that, then bagged his hay pellets. When I was done that, I grabbed a lead and a rope halter and went and got him. Because of the seed, I had to bring him in the long way. But I got him all set up. I found a handle and a couple of the electric fence connectors I needed to put a handle up at the one gate I needed to go thru. Not having a handle there was a problem. It's right next to the riding arena. And, if your horse doesn't duck it's head, you're going to have trouble getting in! I also had to redo the wire a bit there because of putting the handle in. But, it's done. By the time I was done, Stormy had finished eating. So, I put my tools away, then put him away, cleaned the litter box, fed Cindy and left. I had planned on working a horse today and starting to weed along the fence line. Neither one happened.

I came home, heated up some soup and ate it and am now relaxing. I think I'm going to go and take another nap. Then, when I get up, I can do some dishes and make brownies. I'm starting to get too many eggs, so that will use up some of them.

Yep, and I'm not going to church tonight. I took my nap, and am still beat. I have been going full tilt for too long, even B4 I was supposed to. Hubby actually didn't get upset. I think he realized how tired I was. But, the animals are fed. I've put 3 more buckets of sand in the back of the truck. He's making dinner. I may or may not do the dishes and brownies tonight. If I don't, I'll have to do them tomorrow. But I should really make the brownies tonight. It's a bit cool out, so that would help heat up the house. :)
