I'm too beat to do this IRL, so I'll let the smilies do it for me. Hubby was going to come out to the farm tonight to work on the fence for the chicken pen. So, rather than going out early like I'd planned on doing, I decided to do some housework in the morning then head out to the farm. I got some dishes done, washed and hung out a load of clothes, ironed some clothes and did some vacuuming. I left the house around 10:00. Got to the farm and fed my horses, CL's and the 2 that are in the riding arena. I didn't think I'd be able to get my field all cleaned since I didn't get it all done over the weekend, but they did a whole lot of pooping over by Mt. Maure, so I was able to just throw it where it belonged. So, the field is clean. Then I bagged some feed, did a couple of other things, gave Stormy his 2nd feeding while I ate lunch and relaxed for a bit then got started on weeding. My plan was to be done all but one section by the time hubby got there.

It was 2:00 when I started. I needed to do some along the fence line. It was 3:00 by the time I got done! Then I got started on one of the 2 sections I needed to get done. I was hoping to have that all done by 4:00, which is when I expected hubby. Well, he calls after awhile. He had to work late, was beat and wasn't coming out. He planned on going right home and probably falling asleep. I told him I was staying since there's the chance of rain tonight and I wanted to get the field done. I told him not to worry about making me anything to eat since I still have 1 dinner in the freezer as well as lentil soup. I got that section done by 4:15. That left one section plus a small area w/nothing but dock. I'd hoped to be all done by 5:00, but there was more dock than I realized, so it took longer than I expected. But, by 5:30, I HAD DUG UP THE LAST OF THE DOCK!!!!!!! Once that was done, I hooked up the aerator to the mower and best I could aerated the field. There are some spots I'm not sure are done that well since the dirt was so hard. Then, I got my seed spreader, put seed in it and seeded that section of the field! Called hubby and let him know I was leaving.

Got home, and found out that he not only took the clothes off the line for me, but had also fed the goats and checked on the bunnies for me. Plus, he was in the process of making dinner, so I went and got a shower.

I'm now sitting back relaxing on the computer and watching the Phillies. Right now, they're winning. Hope they don't blow it.
Oh dear, you are doing all this by yourself???? I wish i would live closer, we could do fencing together. Always seems to go easier with two people. Stay strong, watch that knee :hugs

Avalon, it's not a big section of fencing, it's just for the chicken pen. But, I could have used your help when I did the fencing for the field! It's not that big a field, but when you do it by yourself it seems to just get bigger and bigger and bigger! Hubby helped some, but the majority of it I did by myself.

Tomorrow I won't be doing as much. I have one small square bale of hay left. I'll throw that to the horses in the morning. Then, I'll go to the hay auction and see if I can't get some good hay cheap. W/the weather the way it's been, there's already some farmers baling hay! And others that are getting ready to. So I'm hoping I can get some of last year's hay for super cheap. I won't go over $35.00. RU gets it for that much and if I need to, I can get a bale from her. She has 3 or 4 bales right now. One thing I will do is make sure I take some gas w/me! After all the trouble we had getting the tractor to start after running out last time, I have no desire to have it run out while I'm running it. I think from now on if I'm going to be using the tractor, I'll bring out a gallon or so to be sure I have enough.

And I also have some good news! DS's one car is fixed! So, I have my truck back. But I think I'm only going to put at the most $20.00 in at a time. Hubby has no AC in the Durango. So, when it's hot out, unless I need the truck, I'm going to let him use the truck. That way, I'll be using his gas normally instead of the other way around.

DD called hubby today. She wants to come out to the farm and ride! She has not done this in I don't know how many years. No one has ridden Stormy since the last time she rode. He's put back on most of the weight he lost, so I think she should be able to jump on him for a bit-as long as she takes it easy. I'm hoping she'll realize how much she misses it and start to come out more. I miss riding w/her. And, RU has plenty of other horses she can ride if she wants. That reminds me, I want to see if I can find her boots. She hasn't worn them for a few years, but they should be OK.

Well, I woke up to rain! I just hope it's not so heavy it washes away the seeds or so long that there's no point in going to the hay auction. If I can't go today, I'll have to change my doctor's appointments for next week and go then.

ETA: And I'm hoping I put the rest of the bag of seed in my tack shed! I was so tired I don't recall now what I did w/it. If it's outside, I guess I'd have to put that down on the bare patches in the rest of the field.

Have fun at the hay auction! We have been doing the same thing, buying good quality 2011 cutting for rock bottom prices because our guys will begin cutting in another week at the latest. Makes for good savings on that end.

Well, I'm not taking my trailer to the auction. It's been raining off and all all morning, so there may not be much there. If I don't get anything this week, I'll be going next week.

In other news, I'm so excited! They're calling for showers today, Thursday and Saturday. Even though I was later getting the seed down than I wanted to be, it looks like it was a good week for it! I should start seeing some green that's not weeds in just a short period of time!

And my biggest news? For some reason, I was thinking that today was Wednesday and I should have candled the eggs last night, so I candled them this morning. I've never had any luck candling eggs. The only4 that really did anything,I couldn't even see thru the shells and only got 2 chicks. Well for the first time, I was able to see veins! It took a moment for me to figure out what I was seeing. Then I got really excited! I didn't see them in all the eggs. I'll look again next week and should be able to tell better then. I just hope nothing happens. The temp was too high this morning, so I hope it didn't kill them. But if it didn't, in about 2 weeks, I should have a whole bunch more nuggets running around! I'm hooked. I think I'll try one more batch for the year, and see if I can't sell some chicks. Any roosters I get out of this batch will be dinner. And, if I get any hens, I may sell some.

I certainly hope so! If I'm this excited over chicks, I'd hate to see how excited I was if I had Misty bred!

I went to the hay auction-it was a wasted trip. As expected, they hardly had any hay. The square bales were going for over $6.00 a bale. The lowest they started the bidding on the RBs was $35.00! Some of it went for over $60.00 a bale! :ep Glad I didn't need it that badly.

Oh, and I did leave the bag of grass seed outside. But, w/the way I had it sitting, hardly any of it got wet, so it should be OK. I may dump the seed into a different bag though. It came in one of those tarp type bags, and the bottom paper strip is wet. I've had that happen w/feed B4 and the bottom little bit got wet, so I always made sure I got that part fed first.

I am so beat I'm about ready to go to sleep. I'm taking a bit of a break right now then I'll have to get up and get moving and do a couple of things. Then after that, I'm hoping to get to bed real early tonight.

Rain??? What is that???

We still haven't been able to find any square bales locally and since we aren't getting our spring rains, there's no telling when anyone will even have anything to cut. :barnie We can get RBs, but they're just a bit too big to fit in the Buicktruck! :gig
