Horses are doing fine, but I haven't really been doing much w/them-other than cleaning up after them! I'm so far behind because of my operation that I'm going nuts! I'm trying my hardest to get everything done by the end of the month so if I do get this summer job, I won't go completely nuts because of stress! And, we went from very dry to it raining a couple of days every week. That doesn't help. I'm planning on getting to the farm super early today in the hopes that I can beat the rain. I didn't pick the field all weekend, and if I don't get it done now, I'm not going to be able to do it until at the very earliest Thursday. :/

Uck, bugs are the worst. I hate when you're running around and get one jammed in your windpipe. Can never seem to get them out. Or worse, if you're riding four wheeler or something, and one goes back. Not only do you have a bug in your throat, but they generally hit hard enough to give you a sore spot for the rest of the day!

Today's forecast called for rain to start by 12:00, if not earlier. So, I left the house at 7:00 so I could get done as much as possible B4 it started. Thought I wasn't going to get anything done because it was raining when I left, but it wasn't heavy, so I took rain gear w/me. By 8:00, I had my horses fed, CL's horses fed, my chickens and KN's chickens fed, eggs collected and my water tank was filled. And, the rain had stopped. So, I got right to work to try and get as much done in my field as possible.

By 10:40, I had all the manure picked up, had mowed the field, and cleaned a large section of fence line! I only have about 90 feet to go on the inside, then I can start on the outside. And, I've made a decision. Instead of cleaning my field everyday, I'm going to leave the house by 7:00. Then I'll feed everybody, work either on weeding or cleaning the field for an hour, then spend a couple of hours working w/horses! I'd be done all of that by 11:00. I could then give Stormy his 2nd feeding, bag feed, take care of Cindy and then weed around my tack shed, hay shelter and trailer. At 12:00, I'd be able to put Stormy away, and get home in time to eat lunch at home, and do housework for a few hours. Yard and garden would be worked on after dinner.

I let Stormy out, did some stuff I needed to get done, then did some weeding in front of my tack shed. By shortly after 12:00, I had put him away and left. And, other than a couple of showers, it hadn't started to rain. Once home, I went ahead and fed the goats, the nuggets and the bunnies. And, it STILL hadn't started to rain. Came in the house, checked the forecast, and it had changed. Every time I look at the forecast, it's changed. They keep changing when it's going to start raining, and when it's going to end. It was supposed to end by early Wednesday. Now, they're calling for a chance of showers all day long. :barnie And, I'm not sure how much time I'm going to have on Thursday and Friday cuz I'm going to the nature center to help w/a couple of programs the naturalist is doing. She has some large school groups coming in, and can use help from any of the volunteers. And, these are a couple of programs I really enjoy, so I'll be there.

Right now, I'm still waiting for the rain to start. Don't know when it will.

We had rain all day today and some yesterday, with solid rain going through til Wednesday. Hopefully Wednesday gives us some clear skies. I know I won't be hitting the auction this week, so it'll be back to paying $1.50/dozen for this week, lol. I wonder if I could talk to her about selling some soaps at her little farm store. Anyways, sounds like you've been far more productive than I have with this crappy rain. The most I did outside was move the plants around, lol.

After we get a bit more, I'd more more than willing! Right now, we're in the beginning stages of drought, so we need it.

Hubby drives a Durango, I drive a pickup. But, since it's taking so long to get the coop and run finished, all of the supplies are STILL in the Durango. Hubby doesn't feel like taking them out and because of security reasons, he can't take all that to work. So, that means he has my truck and when the weather is bad for the bike, I have the Durango.

Last week, I wanted to go to the hay auction. It wasn't raining and I'm getting low on hay for the goats. And since people are now cutting hay, there was a good chance someone would be getting rid of last year's hay and I'd be able to get it cheap. I couldn't go. I don't know that they'll be much this week cuz it's supposed to rain. (Of course, it was supposed to rain yesterday, and we barely got any.)

We had over an inch of rain last week. While the area in front of the stalls is much better, I still need to take sand out for it. I'm not about to put buckets of sand in the Durango. W/my luck, the buckets would tip over and make a big mess! If I could have taken sand out yesterday and today, it would have hopefully been enough or close to it to finish filling in that area. I didn't have to wear muck boots yesterday, which is unusual w/the amount of rain we got last week, so I know it's working. But, I'd like to get it done.

Right now, I'm debating on when to even leave. It's not raining right now. But, there's a bit cell moving our way, and would probably hit the farm at about the time I'd get there. Maybe I'll wait an hour, and see what it's like then.
