So sorry to hear about the horse! That is horrible. Since storm is my only horse I haven't had to make that decision. But I have had to make that decision with a friends house while they water away in vacation and it was really really tough.

I hate to say it but BH said she looked at the long range forecast and it isn't stellar news. :hide I hope what she saw is wrong!

I know they're calling for a low on Friday morning of about 7*, and it's only going into the 20s. They, they're keeping any eye on a system that could hit Sunday night into Monday. I want spring.

I'm beat. Today didn't go quite as planned. We got more snow. And for awhile, it was really coming down! So, they cancelled choir practice. KN called. Most of her runs were cancelled, she was near did I want to go out to lunch? So, I did. And, I'm glad I did. It felt good to sit back and relax.

While heading home, I stopped at the bank closest to where I get gas. And, the ATM wasn't working! So that meant I had to go to another branch. It's closer to my house, but I'd have to back track to get gas. So, I went to a different gas station. The gas was 5 cents a gallon more expensive. So, rather than filling the tank, I only got $30.00. W/what I had, I figure this should get me thru until next week. Then, I'll fill the tank. I just wish I had gotten gas yesterday. It was even cheaper near my doctors.

I had cleaned the kitchen this morning, but hadn't worked on rearranging it. Got started on that when I got home. Did part of it, and got tired of working on it. So, I went out, fed the goats, then worked on firewood for a bit. Came back in and finished. It took me a lot longer than I was expecting! But, I like it better like this. I washed the walls in that area and scrubbed the floor good too. And I've come to the conclusion that hubby is blind. He hasn't even noticed it. Wonder how long it will take him.

I might try to get to bed early again tonight. Even if I don't, it does feel good to sit down and relax.

It's cold out there! It got down into the single digits last night, and tonight is supposed to be even colder. Tomorrow, they're only calling for a high in the 20s! At least they're calling for rain and not snow on Monday, but that means I'm going to have to put the blankets back on the horses. And, they're calling for this cold to continue at least into the beginning of March. I want spring!

At least w/this cold weather, my house is cleaner. But I can't help but wonder if I'd have even more done if it wasn't so cold. I don't want to spend any more time outside than I have to. Then I come in, and don't feel like doing anything cuz I'm tired of being in the house. Add on to that the days that hubby missed work because of the snow....

Any way, enough of that. Instead, I need to focus on what I'm hoping to get done today. So, my list for today is:

1. Practice piano
2. Practice clarinet
3. Feed animals and put out hay
4. Go to Bible study
5. Clean field
6. Feed Stormy and take care of the chickens
7. Work in bedroom
8. Wash a load of clothes-they're probably going in the dryer
9. Feed goats
10. Work on wood
11. Make and eat dinner
12. Dishes

I'm not looking forward to this system rolling through either because my boarded horse is probably going to be stuck inside. I don't know when I'll be able to turn her out with the herd. Probably not until the ground softens but isn't slick, whenever that is!

I'm probably going to put the blankets back on the horses tomorrow. I'll have the time then. In a way I hate to do it. They've really been enjoying not having them on. But, they're going to need them once this system hits. I'm just not sure what I'm going to do on Monday to kill time out at the farm!

At this point in time, I'd just be happy for temps above freezing! I can't help but wonder what kind of negative effect this might be having on wildlife. After all, it got cold so early I'm not sure that animals that hibernate were able to get the food they needed B4 it got so cold. And, since it's not warming up, there's nothing for them to eat. Plus, I'm wondering if the birds are finding enough nesting materials, etc.

It got down into the single digits last night and is only supposed to get into the 20s today. Then we could get another nasty storm Sunday night into Monday. After that, it MIGHT start to warm up. I hope so. I am so tired of this weather. I'll be going for another load of wood today. So I'm not sure what all I'm going to get done. So my list for today includes:

1. Iron a basket of shirts (done)
2. Practice piano (done)
3. Feed animals and put out hay
4. Groom horses
5. Clean field
6. Feed Stormy, bag feed and take care of chickens
7. Go to Wally World
8. Get a load of wood
9. Feed goats
10. Work on wood
11. Practice clarinet (I can practice that when hubby is home, but he complains if I practice the piano :idunno)
12. Make and eat dinner
13. Dishes
14. Work on basement

I don't really want to go outside. I think it's still in the teens. I much prefer hiding inside when the temps get like this.

I'm hiding too right now. I really need to go Take care of kahlua though....
Well I saw an article from either UVa or VA Tech that they had a drink bug experiment and 95 percent did. That is good news. The wildlife will balance out again I'm sure. The foxes and other predators must be fat and happy right now.
I guess we'll see what happens. I'm rising my horse hair outside after I groom for the birds. It usually gets snatched up pretty quick.

I always leave the hair for the birds. Of course, they're not shedding yet, so about all I'm taking off of them is dirt.

I'm beat. I didn't do as much as I wanted in the basement, and I haven't made dinner yet. But other than that, I did everything on my list and did a bit more. I had time to kill out at the farm, so I decided I was going to work on the tarps over my RBs. I was able to take one completely off! So that means it will be easier to get my hay out now. And since it's uneven along the front since I've used some of that hay, I put pallets up against the hay. I figure this will help keep the tarp in place when it's windy. And since it was fairly windy today, it looks like it's going to work.

They still aren't sure what we're getting on Monday. One forecast calls for snow. Another forecast calls for sleet and freezing rain. I much prefer the snow. If we get sleet and freezing rain, I'm going to be stuck at home. I'm going to be busy on Sunday. I didn't unload all of the truck today. I'm going to do that on Sunday. I'll be filling up the wood holder in the basement first. Then the rest will go in the wood shed. I'll also be blanketing the horses, filling up and hanging the hay nets and putting out extra hay. Then, if I have time, I'll be making bread. I think I'm going to be tired Sunday night.
