Today didn't go quite as planned. Since I had the farrier coming this morning, I didn't have a lot of time afterward to do anything. So, I had planned on finishing the cleaning on my tack shed. That didn't happen. Instead, I ended up helping RU get her mower hooked up to the tractor. She hasn't used it in a few years because the hydraulics were messed up on her old tractor. The only thing we didn't hook up was the PTO. The end was full of dirt, and it needs to be greased, but she should get that done this week. Her riding mower isn't working, so nothing is getting mowed at the farm-except what can be done w/a push mower. I also helped her repair a rabbit cage.

When I was done at the farm, I went for a ride on my bike. I'm hoping to go on a dessert run tomorrow night, and it might be a longer ride than I've been doing. So, I wanted to be sure I can ride for a bit farther than I have.

I was going to work in the garden, but all I did was water the plants and weed the flower garden a bit. Instead, hubby and I went and picked up that mower. He said he wasn't going to work on it. Then he decided he wanted to just look at it a bit. Next thing I know, he's taking it all apart and cleaning it. He thinks that once he's done checking it out, gets it all back together, changes the oil, puts gas in it and a good battery that it will start right up.

Now I'm getting ready to go to sleep! I'm tired.

I might drag a little today. I got woke up in the middle of the night by a barred owl or 2. I've never heard them that close to the house. Made me realize that if I do get chickens at home, I'm going to need a good area for them so the owls don't get them at night!

I will be so glad when hubby is finally able to fix his car w/out something else going wrong w/it! Today for the first time in a week, I had my truck. And, if they hadn't been calling for rain this afternoon, I wouldn't have had it. But, I was going to the hay auction. So that meant, I needed to take home any hay I got today. Plus, I was almost out of one type of feed. If it wasn't for the weather, I would have rather gotten the hay tomorrow morning when it was cooler! But, I got the hay and the feed today and now hubby's car isn't working right again. So that means I won't have the truck again.

They did change the day of Bible study. We had it today. It was great! I went from there to the gas station to the hay auction. I kept finding myself thinking of a friend in CA when I was there and the prices that she has to pay. I really wish there was a way I could have sent her some of this hay. I got 28 beautiful bales for $2.75 a bale. I'd say they weigh right around 50 lbs. And, if I had a place to store them and the money for more, I could have gotten more for around the same price.

I got to the farm after getting the hay all loaded and couldn't find my cart. KN borrowed it-which I didn't mind, but she got distracted and forgot to put it back! I was heading over to ask RU if she knew where it was when I just happened to notice it over by her chickens. I can't get as close to my area as I'd like w/my truck-there's a big pile of wood chips in the way! So, I unload the truck, then use the cart to pull 4 bales over at a time. If I didn't have the cart, I'd have to lug the bales over separately, and I didn't want to do that. It's much easier to stack them on the cart.

Got the hay all unloaded and covered, which wasn't easy. Of course the wind decided to try to blow just then. And, until I get something for hay storage, I'm not sure how much more I'm going to be able to get. But, someone I know has a 20x12 portable shelter that they bought a few years ago and have never used. I asked her if she'd be willing to sell it to me. She's not sure, but is thinking about it. If I can get that for a good price, I will. If not, I'll have to get a replacement cover for the one I have.

At least I was able to get a bale out fairly easily!

I've come to the conclusion that there are not enough hours in the day. I got a ton done, but don't feel like I did anything. And the weather is not helping. I wanted to leave early today because it was going to be bad out, but I had to clean out the fridge first, then get the trash and recyclable out and water my plants. That took longer than I was expecting, so by the time I got to the farm, it was feeling quite sticky out. I had planned on working w/Misty, maybe even ride her for a bit, but it was just too hot for me. I decided to work in the shade instead.

I never finished cleaning up the area where I had had my RBs stored. RU's son was there, so I had him help me fold up the tarps. It's a bit easier w/2 people. He had cut a large, dead branch off of a white pine-and left it in my field. He took that out. I had baling twine that I wanted to keep, so I sat on top of a bunch of pallets in the shade and got that all rolled up. There was some that I didn't want, that got trashed.

Once I was done w/the baling twine, I moved most of the pallets. I wanted them along the fence and they weren't. Eventually, they'll be coming out, but that won't be until I get a hay shelter up. At least now, they're out of the way.

There was a bunch of small stuff from off of the dead branch that was still in my field, so I got that all cleaned up. Right now, it's where I'm planning on putting my hay shelter. I need to clean up some in my tack shed area, then I can get the branches over there. And all of this took longer than I was expecting.

I had to stop on the way home and pay my motorcycle insurance, so that meant I was even later getting home. So I knew I wouldn't get much done at home, and I was right. I had thrown a load of clothes in the washer B4 I left. So, when I got home, I hung them out on the line. Hubby called. We were going to go to a local butcher when he got home. Much to my surprise, he decided to stop on the way home. So, I decided I could get some stuff done. I got the dishwasher unloaded, then reloaded it and ran it. I thought he'd be home B4 it got done. He calls again, tells me he'll call when he's coming home, and wanted to know if we had a cooler. I found one and scrubbed it up. I didn't want to get started on anything that I couldn't stop, so I decided to start on some ironing. I was actually able to get it all done. I honestly was wondering if we were going to make it to the butcher since they closed at 6:00. He finally called just as I got done w/the last shirt. I ran out and fed the goats, he got home right when I got done, we grabbed stuff we needed to take w/us and left.

Got to the butcher, got some nice looking meat, then went to Wally World and Harbor Freight. Now I'm trying to relax, but he hasn't shut up. And, he keeps bugging me. I'm not sure how long it's taken me to type this up, but I'd say it's at least 20 minutes, if not more.

DH firmly believes that, when it comes to those 'portable garages', the green or white ones hold up a lot better than the grey ones :hu All I know is, we go through them! :p

I have the same issue with interruption at my house - it never fails; the minute I pick up a book or start typing on the computer, one of my guys just HAS to tell me something! Sometimes, they talk so long, I close my book/shut off the computer - which they always take as a signal of some sort, and quit talking! Of-course, they'll remember something else if I try to read/type again
