Weather is horrible. 3 days of rain and fog and high winds now. UGH

Dizzy as heck yesterday. Sinus from hell. I barely could walk and not tilt over. Bad day yesterday. Feel better today, no dizzy. Pressure changes in this weather system are rough on me.

Drizzly outside but clearing but in a few days more rain...UGH-UGH

I have to do field work and this rain is killing me!!!!!

Going to Mom and Dads today to goof off at the lake.

Working on soap now and doing laundry. Using the dryer....poor me, but OK cause weather says no hanging stuff outside...LOL

Tomorrow will be big busy day with sun...hopefully things are dried out enough to mow and such. Everything getting tall from this rain....pastures are greening up nice!! Should be cutting hay consumption in 1/2 with the nice pastures growing.

Soap business is soaring. Can't keep up with orders. Have alot of wholesale clients now and with farmer markets hitting into gear it is taxing big time to get enough batches made! UGH---just work harder I guess...LOL

Off to do a bunch of things and then head out to Moms.

enjoy the ride

I tell Tony the best time is not kidding time..HA HA HA

Good to hear from you Karen, we are still trying to figure out what we're gonna do as far as the goats are concerned. I want to visit a couple of farms locally to see if we'll like them and see how hard it would be for me to milk

That is smart Lori

sometimes animals are far worse then expected to deal wtih on a daily basis....be sure you want them and the stupid responsibility that goes with them.

I have so many you know...animals in general....125 hogs, 300 chickens, goats, cattle, small critters etc. and you are a slave to your property....literally.

So being sure is smart. I of course love farming but when I want my "away" time for camping etc. it is so hard to leave...but I do..HA HA

Cruddy day

nice yesterday....darkening skies and threat of rain. have some clothes on the line but will bring them in and throw in the dryer...it ain't happening out there today..HA HA

what am I doing?

rotating pastures, building temp fences to shut off parts of pasture etc. like I do in spring to make for good grazing.

soap batches like crazy...inventory is now getting stocked a bit which is good but orders still heavy. never ending job --soapmaking..LOL

Room addition going great. Having kitchen window replaced with bigger one and laundry doors replaced with wider one. He is doing that Friday so my kitchen and entrance laundry will be a train wreck....trying to get "everything" done knowing Friday I loose use of those areas for the day.

Picking out room colors. Painting living and dining room along with new room.

New carpet in living room.

Making a list of "New Rules" for my clean new living room and Nicole's new tv room.....yup, and everyone will live by those rules..HA HA

Tony took bull to the sale. They don't like him so they are selling and buying a new bull.....why, who knows..LOL---will see what they bought when they get home.

Washing eggs as usual

Everything is mowed.....now waiting to mow again..HA HA

Propane truck came. Last delivery of the year for me. Only got 40 lbs. filled. Was at 30 lbs so now I am 70....that is enough....saved myself like 25 lbs I didn't need to buy. So will wait til Sept. to fill up again. I truly loved my propane fireplace. The warm heat and emergency heat when power out was wonderful!! Price was good and saved that elec. bill in the very cold weather from being high....win win for me.

Eating out of fridge right now....have to use up leftovers and things that are "almost" empty....LOL...no grocery shopping until I do that....so in about 9 days or so I will have to go shopping. Defrosting my "saved" extras like lasagna and all and using it up before freezer burn etc. gets to most of it.

Ate most of my corn from the fields...very few ears left. Will be planting about 25 acres of sweet corn....can't wait for my new batch to go into the freezer.

Save money...who knew...eating from your own pantry..HA HA

nothing much more...just busy and waiting for nicer weather to come...want to swim soon. Love swimming and it is sure a relaxer for me!!

Off to go get myself in some kind of trouble I am sure....LOL

Lancashire and Duroc cross hogs
(I know I spelled that Lancashire wrong...lol)

goats are Boers

make goat milk soap and sell at the farmer markets and to stores and anyone who wants it...LOL

We work 3 farmer markets and sell year round. We sell eggs, whole hog sausage and chops, goat milk soap, goat milk lotion and all our produce from the farm.

We do very well but it sure is alot of work but we love it!

Do you farm to sell??

Thanks for replying.
We've always sold eggs but buyers are scare when it comes to foods that aren't from a grocery store here. The local farmer's markets are usually pretty empty around here so we only sell on site. we're thinking about trying to sell more garden/fruit produce, raw milk, and meat (chicken, rabbit, duck and turkey), but so far we've been keeping it all for ourselves until we get more animals. I'm trying to set up a website to help sell but I'm pretty clueless about it all.
I have yet to make goat's milk soap, I ordered the last ingrediants for it about a week ago so until they arrive I'm still waiting.

I thought Boers were meat goats? I guess you can milk anything though, huh? Do you ever drink any of it or does it all go for soap?
