Thanks Free, she is so fussy, I sometimes even hate to aproach her on a subject or with a sugestion. I like the raw milk idea and recently found a source for raw goats milk. I'll see what I can do about that.

I feel really sorry for her hubby.....

Do you have Freecycle in your area? I got tons of stuff, all free. A playpen, 2 high chairs, enough clothes to cloth 15 children from birth to age 2, a car seat and who knows how many splendid baby toys and a million other odd and end things. I was totally amazed at the things people were giving away. I did not ask for all that stuff it just happend. I put a wanted "Playpen" add on freecycle, got a response and went to pick it up. Ended up with the playpen, the car seat, and a big bag of clothes. They insisted I take it. Then I saw the offer of a high chair and responded. Went to pick it up and got the chair with 3 really big contractor bags of clothes and toys.

Since I did not need or want all the stuff, I seperated it, reposted it and gave 8 people enough clothes and toys to last their children a while.

geesh, I had a friend that had the severe nausea too....had to be hospitalized several times for dehydration cause she just couldn't keep anything down. It was rough on everyone involved. :hugs

I love the jungle themed stuff....is she having a boy or girl? You could do a really cute quilt with that....print out some jungle animals on fabric and let everyone at the shower use fabric markers to color a square and write something nice for mom and baby and then sew everything together afterwards.

I love to do baby quilts....they're faster! :D

Yeah, I agree with 2dream....check out freecycle and CL and you can get some great stuff! Consignment shops are fun too, sometimes you can get good deals on stuff. I almost wish I had not gotten a crib at all, just gone with a pack and play and then switched to a twin bed with rails.

We got one of those convertible cribs for my son and I soooooo wish we hadn't. No footboard and it converted to a full bed. It just takes up so much room in his room....then all the extra crib parts had to go to the dump/recycling center cause there was nothing to use them for. It was a waste. I do admit that it is nice when we have company cause my parents can sleep in his bed and he sleeps on the floor on an air mattress. That's the only thing its good for.

DD has been hospitalized several times for dehydration too. The meds are helping quite a bit, but now she has had a cold as well, poor thing. :(

She's having a boy.

I have been checking freecycle. I am going to wait til after the baby shower to go nuts on that one ;)

I love the idea of doing a quilt like that, having the shower guests color it in!!!! I am definitely going to consider doing that. It would be a fun thing to do at the shower and we have so many very creative friends and family.

When I had DD, I kept things down to a minimum. We had a tiny apt and I honestly didn't think I needed all that "stuff" and I didn't. We used a portacrib for DD until she was 2. Then her dad made a small crib sized platform bed for her, low to the ground, so that if she fell out of it, she didn't really get hurt. When she was 5 we purchased a bunkbed, second hand.
I did end up buying a baby bathtub. We only had a shower. For a long time I bathed her in a dishpan. Then we found she liked showers with us and that worked somewhat, but then I got a proper little tub and we got lots of use out of it. Eventually we used it to go sledding and it got busted up

I have no intention of buying a whole lot of stuff for me to use, when I babysit. I will either get it for free or nearly so or make do. The only thing that is really important is the carseat.

The good neighbor has his second hand business and I am sure I can get anything from him for free or in trade of some sort. He is always happy, when I bring him homemade food and stuff for his critters.

I had that nausea :(. Ended up on meds which helped a little. It was why I'm not having any more. It was amazing how it went away with delivery.

Did you have a boy or a girl? We have this theory, that boys cause more trouble for the mom...

My first was a boy, the other 2 were girls. It was bad with my first and the absolute worst with my last, so the sex of the baby didn't have anything to do with it for me.

W/my son, I felt sick at times, but that was it. W/my daughter, I couldn't keep anything down. If I remember correctly, I was like that for 3 months. I almost ended up in the hospital.
