What are you going to do about the bug eggs? Did they look like nits? :(

He sort of looks like my whether ram...same color and body style, sweet face. I know this is admitting to a basic, mushy heart weakness....but I really wish I could rehome him somewhere that someone will keep him for a pet. He is the sweetest, funniest little guy and always wants a cuddle and scratch. So soft, so pretty, so sweet. I can't eat him. :( Darn it!

yup, they look like nits. I figure I'll check online to see what I can do about it. Something that isn't going to poison me nor cost an arm and a leg.

He is a cutie, wish I could keep him or eat him. Don't think I can do either. The plan is to sell him as soon as I know he has doen his job. His coat is sooo nice and soft and thick. Would make a nice blanky...

Hope you can rid him of the lice before it spreads to your fine looking girls.

Yeah, me too. They definitely do not have any bugs....yet. So I guess it is a good thing that Blossom keeps Billy at a distance for now

Ff, I'll have to check that out. Thanks.

I really like your buckling! You could try rubbing DE (diatomaceous earth) into his coat. Mine had a lite case of goat lice when I got them and that worked for me. Shake it into their bedding too and tub down your girls so they don't get it.
And yeah, Ivermectin works too :)

Morning! What a cute buckling! What is the gestation of a goat? If your girls are bred in Feb. when would the cute kiddos pop out? Have a super fantastic day!

Billy is totally integrated with the "herd". He is comfortable with us and even behaves well on a leash, even though he has never been on one before. We walked the three of them around our field yesterday and it was lots of fun to watch them.
I changed their fenciing around, so they would have some new pasture to graze on. I am beginning to really like this electic netting for it's ease of reshaping it.

The gestation period is about 150 days. I checked my calendar and if this breeding took we will be kidding the first week of June.

We finally have some sunshine today. It has been miserably cold. Most days the house did not get much above 60. My room warmed up to about 56 yesterday. I have been wearing the same clothes for days, since I cannot get myself to remove my warm jammies and get into cold clothes. So I have just been putting my big pants and a warm jacket over my jammies. There have been times when it was warmer outside than inside the house. The only warm room is the living room, after we have the fireplace insert stoked up for a while.

I have also been trying to get laundry done, while we have this spell of no rain, but since we have had this thick fog layer, the laundry on the line has not been drying as fast. I finally got most of it in last night. It was still a little damp, but I spread it out over the furniture and it dried by this morning. So I got some more laundry in the machine.

Last night we had the chili I made the day before for our dinner. I used mostly homegrown and preserved food. Eventually I want to make my own chili powder as well. This is a meal we could definitely grow completely on our own.

Then I also made some bread pudding using honey as the sweetener. None of the family had even heard of bread pudding before. They all loved it. You could really taste the honey. I think it would be nice with some sort of fruit served on top, but it was plenty sweet without the fruit. I also thought it would be good with raisins or apples added before baking it. Next time.

We have been getting plenty of eggs. So I am going to try and use them more in my meals.

I also find that the kids, Stepson and his girlfriend are way too much into their junkfood. The GF even took a nutrition course this last semester. It still hasn't changed their eating habits

I want to make more snack type of foods and see if I cannot influence their dietary habits this way. In my opinion, homemade donuts will still be better than anything storebought - nutritionally as well as tastewise. So we really do need to track down our deep fat fryer.
Afterall if I make donuts, I might use white flour, but I will not be using any corn sweetener, nor preservatives etc and I prefer to fry them in lard, if I can track down a good source that is not too expensive. I can get lots of lard, but it has preservatives added. Seems that nowadays plain lard with nothing added is going to be a "gourmet" food

My fingers are freezing as I am typing this. I think I better go outside and do some chores towarm up. ;)
