I know the feeling, I was too stressed that I didn't do anything either... and now I've been having sinus troubles.

I did light a candle today, and we have family over, some coming tomorrow as well. Should be fun.

Have a great day Denise!

Christmas eve dinner was good. It was so nice to have both our kids and their partners here. We had a cozy family evening, eating and opening gifts and being silly.
I am still sick. I have spent my time sleeping, reading, playing stupid computer games and watching tv. My brain is clogged and my energy non-existent. Now SO is coming down with something as well. Looks like we'll go to bed early for New Years. But then we usually do anyway.
I tried a baking soda remedy per MorelCabin's post. I do feel better today.
I am looking forward to having energy again and doing stuff around the farm again. I miss my animals, I miss going outside and puttering around the farm. We are do for more rain though, so I will be staying inside for a while longer.
I guess it's a good sign, that I am beginning to feel impatient about getting out and doing stuff.
In the meantime, I will peruse those seed catalogs and dream...

I wish everyone a Happy New Year!!!

Finally got a decent night's sleep. I feel so much better. I was able to go to the store and pick up some essentials that we were out of.

I also spent a good part of the day outside, just checking on how things looked. I cleaned out the nestboxes, so the girls have a nice clean place for their eggs. We are still getting at least 4 eggs a day. I'm impressed.

Our dog was startled by the fireworks on NYE. Poor thing didn't know what to make of all that noise. Her hair was standing straight up and she barked ferousciously to make it go away. I was pretty proud of her. She stayed close to me for about an hour, then went back to her own bed.

It is a nice sunny day today, I had hoped to get some laundry done and hung up, but that is going to have to wait til tomorrow. I feel good for having accomplished the chores I did get done and now I am going to rest again. I don't want to push it. It just feels so good to be on the mend :weee

Morel...does the baking soda work on sinus congestion? I am going to make my boy try the BS remedy if his new cold progresses.....that boy can't stop kissing on his sickly girlfriend!

Our little frazzle hen, Susie gave us quite a surprise. She kept disappearing. She wouldn't be in the roost at night, then we'd see her at the feeder and then she'd be gone again. We figured she found herself a better place to roost, or got into the neighbors yard. But we just couldn't find her or how she could get into the neighbor's yard. We were worried that some vermin might get her.

Sooo, today I saw her at the feeder and since I was feeling better, decided to keep an eye on her. I was hanging up the laundry and little Susie ran over to the patch of sandy soil where everyone has been dustbathing. This patch is behind a tiny shed that we store 2 bales of hay in. When I finished hanging the laundry, I went to look for Susie in the chicken bath patch. She wasn't there. I looked all around and couldn't see her, nor could I see a place where she might have got into the neighbor's yard. So I looked in the little shed with the hay, I still didn't see her. I scratched my head, where could she be. I decided to look more thoroughly in the little shed. I moved hay and lifted some boards and there, way in the bottom in the furthest corner was little Susie, sitting on 17 eggs. The little stinker!!!
I fixed up a box for her and brought her into the house. I am too worried about the rats and other vermin to leave her outside. Her comb was bloodied, so she had obvoiusly been fighting something off. I candled the eggs and 3 were duds for sure. Most had little chicks in them, I could see them moving. I figure we'll have babies within a week. :weee
Bad time of year to have little chicks, but it's out of my hands.
Now that I have her in the house, I can make sure Susie gets plenty of good food. I don't want her loosing her feathers again.

I wonder if the feed store has chick mash at this time of year. I might have to make my own.

We had another nice and sunny day today. Wish I could share it with all of you who are freezing. There is a reason I moved to California
I had enough energy to do laundry and go to the feed store for chicken food.

Bee, I don't know if it was the baking soda that helped me feel better or if my cold had run it's course. But I did start feeling dramatically better after drinking the baking soda solution. I could only drink it down for two days. I drank 2 glasses the first day and one more the second evening. It made me feel bloated and the taste leaves a lot to be desired also. I do think it is worth a try.

The baking soda I find is excellent for kicking a cold out of the chest...but hasn't helped my sinuses any.
I wanna move to California! Wanna see what it is like here? We have an ice fishing village building up on the lake. By next week there will be more ice shacks on the lake than there are houses in this little town!
