This is Hershey's, crappy ingredients (Lindt is good!) but it was $1.60 for a pound across the street with a coupon and I couldn't resist!

Chocolate? did you mention chocolate? I don't usually crave chocolate, but....
I had made too much butter and brown sugar mixture to fit on the cinnamon rolls. What does one do? I added some slivered almonds, reheated it a little longer to cook the almonds, spread the mixture on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and grated up some baking chocolate and sprinkled a generous amount on top. Homemade almond rocka!!! Oh we are so totally eating sinfully tonight :gig

Hey Denise, I think you need to bake yo FIL some of those cinnamon rolls or bread. Then when he compliments how wonderful it is mention that you really need to pick up some more yeast. Maybe next time he's shopping for you he will buy you some. Then you can stick it in that big ol freezer you just got. You will never want for yeast again.

Sorry, I was thinking out loud. :idunno

But really, I keep one of those huge packages in my freezer I think they cost about 3 bucks. Then I take a 1/2 pint mason jar out at a time and store in the fridge. It will last forever.

Your yummy treats sound awesome, but losing all the work that went into your soup is a bummer!

Today is a new day :)

TanksHill, that is a good idea. I am not used to having a deep freezer, so I don't thin about stuff like that yet. I will go and buy myself a lot of yeast today. ;)

It's errand running day. See you later.

It is a beautiful sunny, slightly chilly day here.

So I was meesing around on the internet as usual the other night and all of a sudden nothing happens. I finally realize, that my mouse is no longer moving. I died :(

Talk about withdrawal. And absolutely no compoter access. I couldn't even look up reciepies I have on the computer :ep

Considering I had about $8 spare money to my name, I knew I wasn't running out and buying a new one. I asked around and finally my neighbor gave me an extra one. It had the wrong fitting for my computer, so I had to get a port to make it work. But at least I was able to get one for only $5.

So now I am trying to catch up :p

I've have started my San Francisco sour dough and feeding it and keeping it warm on a heating pad. I have used the part that you take out to experiment with baking assorted breads. All of which have come out very well. We made pizza the other night, using my sourdough and whole weat flour. It came out like gourmet pizza.

I got my kefir going again. And I made a wonderfull dish using the neck from the deer SO got this fall. It is based on a cuban dish. I'll have to post the recipe. It is called "Ropa Vieja".

On a sad note. I noticed the ambulance coming to the really good neighbors' last night. SO and I rushed over to see if we could be of assistance. My friend and neighbor B was taken to the hospital. She is the one who broke both legs earlier this summer. Apparently she hasn't gotten out of bed since her last doctor's appt that I took her to. Her husband found her slumpled over, when he came home late from work.
This morning her father and brother came over and informed us that she had passed. We are very close to these people. SO has known them nearly his whole life.
We brought them dinner earlier. And it obviously brightened their day.

We butchered two of our roos today. I had put them in seperate pens last night. I figured we might as well get it done. I convinced SO to try it my way and he was amazed how well it went. We had always dry plucked the birds. I set up 2 pans, one with hot soaply water and one with boiling water. AFter the birds drained, I put them in the sudsy water to wash them, rinsed them and then dunked them in the boiling water. I brought the first bird out to SO and brougth the second bird in. By the time I brought it out, SO was nearly done plucking his bird and had a giant smile on his face.

It feels good to have these two nasty roos processed. One of them weighed more than 5 lbs after we cleaned it!! Not bad for a mixed breed home hatched bird.

I got a big bowl of sourdough sitting on the kitchen table. Tomorrow I will make a mess of pizza dough. I want to roll it out to fit our pizza pan and freeze it. That way we'll be able to make pizza on a whim, with my homemade sauce or SO's pesto sauce and whatever we have on hand. Our version of fast food ;)

Hey FD! Glad to hear you've got a new mouse. At first I was thinking it was a pet mouse too.

:hugs on your neighbor's passing.
