Just stopping in to say hello! :frow

Sorry to hear about you neighbor Denise. :hugs

Mouse balls, ha yo two a funny!

I often wonder if I could live without Internet. I mean i know I would not die or anything. But there are so many times I need it.... Forget driving to the library. That would not be productive. Crazy life we live now a days.

All of your baking and home chores sound wonderful to me. After the last 4 days all I want to do is stay home and hide. Vacations are supposed to be fun right? I guess I should go sum up mine and stick it in my journal. No sure how much I want to complain.

Have a great day!!

It may be hard work and or lots of work. ... a combination of both....
for the most part I love doing what I am doing. There are times I wish I was rich and could just buy what I want..... but I am not that wealthy... so I make do... and know that I eat and live better than most and I choose this life to some degree.

If I had my druthers, I would have enough money to pay someone to do most of what I do and I would just putter in the garden and crochet or paint or whatever creative outlet catches my attention... I would still service the community, because that is part of who I am, but the drudgery of the day to day stuff is wearing thin....

Yet I still love to learn how to do stuff to be independent, but there again the day to day stuff interferes with learning new stuff.

My DS visited today. I loved having her visit. I had chores to do and of course they took way longer than they normally would. All I got accomplished today was to freeze a batch of sweet corn. I did not pick any tomatoes and I did not plant any bulbs, nor did I work on my deer skin. I merely fed the critters and worked on that corn while visiting with my sister. I had a great time. But whatever I did not get done today, will need to get done tomorrow, and some of it will not get done.
But I would not want to give up a moment of that time I got to spend with my sister. Even if we end up short of something....

Oh I really wish someone would find it in their heart to leave me a big pile o'money, I am so good about setting it aside and making it last. I don't even mind working for it

Mine's in Fla, :/ so I don't get to see her. At least we talk to each other free with this plan.

Mine lives in Washington. Fortunately for us she occasionally has to travel for her job and San Francisco is only about 45 minutes away. That is when she visits, if she can.

I still cannot belive how hot it was today. We had to go inside because my sister is so pale, she was worried about getting burned. We tried to sit in the shade while I cleaned the corn, but since we were chit chatting it took quite a bit longer....drinking wine didn't help ;)

SO and his son went turkey hnting this morning.

the stepson's gf came home from school and we chit chatted for a bit
I was trying to get a bunch of stuff done, but I kept getting interrupted

I took care of the critters.

I cleaned the kitchen.

When SO and DSS came home I suggested we let the goats out. It was fun playing with and hanging out with the goats.

Then the old man neighbor came over. He spent a long time talking with SO.

I decided to make chicken pot pie for dinner. When I finished the first pie, I took it next door. No-one answered, so I just went in and found old man neighbor sitting in his chair with tears in his eyes. I told him I put the dinner on the kitchen table and talked with him about loosing ones child. I told him I would keep coming back to keep an eye on him.

We watched the surviving show and found it entertaining. I would like to see more detail.

The dinner was really good. I am off ofr seconds and some desert.

We got a lot done yesterday. We are basically preparing for the next rain. Got a lot of cleanup done in the field. I havested the tomatoes. What little there is. Well there are lots of tomatoes, but very few are any good. I picked 6 plants clean and we pulled the plants out and tossed them. I got a small basket of red tomatoes and another small basket of green ones. The rest was really nasty or just yucky. The just yucky ones, I gave to the chickens and some to the goats, I also took some to the neighbor for his chickens. Then I still had lots more, which I set aside to feed over the next day or so. We still have lots more tomato plants. Mostly I want to keep picking the good reddish ones. I'll use the green ones to make relish.

I harvested some more dry corn and SO pulled up all the remaining sweet corn stalks. He set them aside to feed to the goats ove the next few weeks.

In the evening we let the chickens into the field for the first time in months. They left the sunflower seeds in the feeder and preferred to come and browse the field :D

Once all the tomato plants are removed, we'll let the goats run amok in the field more often too.

We have to go to the neighbor's funeral this afternoon. Not something I want to do today, but it's one of those things that needs to be done to support the neighbors.

I better get my chores done. So I have time to do more chores

The neighbor's funeral was short and sweet. I had never been to a military funeral.

We spent most of the day yesterday and today preparing for the rain.

I got more tomato plants pulled. Managed to pick a puny basket of mostly green tomatoes and two huge baskets of yucky tomatoes for the chickens. I took one basket to the neighbor for his chickens as well as a little basked of pear tomatoes..

I finally finished making my chicken soup. The dog got a nice big bowl of reject chicken parts and vegies.
I have been shelling corn and cleaning large pumkin seeds.

I bottled my wine experiment yesterday. It is cloudy, but I think it will clear up eventually.

I also have some sourdough bread going. It is not rising very welll, probably because it is so cold. Maybe it'll be a midnight snack.

I think I am going to read, watch tv, play games on fb and keep checking the forum. And eat chicken soup.

I was wondering if the rain had come in yet. Glad to hear your day went well.

I did everything early today to beat the rain. But it's not here yet.

I made split pea & ham, lit the fire place, stacked extra wood and even ran to the grocery. All in hopes of a nice rainy afternoon. No luck.

Maybe tonight.

Enjoy, g
