My GEEK son comes over and disassembles my mouse on a regular basis and cleans it. He says dirt is the usual cause of mouse death. If you are like me, and believe me I am pretty sure you are ( :p ), your mouse will be full of cat hair, dog hair, chicken feathers and garden soil - before you can shake a whisker at it!

I just add the soap directly to my scalding water when plucking (saves a pan).

I heat the water (160 is ideal to pluck) and then give it a squirt of citrus dish soap!

I have had a bit of fun with demise of my mouse and search for a new one ;) I asked my neighbor and my DD if they had any mice to spare. Of course they both answered, that I could have all I can catch

My old mouse was a laser mouse, and I couldn't figure out how to disassemble it or I would have tried to fix it. I used to clean my mouse all the time, when I had the kind with a ball in it.

I must say I really had a hard time, not having access to my computer nor the internet. Of course I knew I could go to the library. But that is just not the same as having internet access at any time you want  Even SO was missing it. He often has me looking things up for him.

SO is off hunting turkey. It is opening day. Neither his friend nor his son has joined him. :( He really missed the usual shared getting ready activities.

The laser ones are really not much different to clean than the old way you used to wash your "mouse balls" ( :p  I love saying that! ). Mine is a laser too. They don't clog up as bad as the old ones but they still clog.

Mine seems to have a bad connection. I was trying to open it, but couldn't figure out how, without possibly breaking something.

I always cleaned my mouse balls with a bit of alcohol. It is so easy to entertain us, isn't it?

:gig

Yes... thank goodness. It is cloudy, windy, and a damp 42 degrees here and I have a huge sink full of dishes waiting on me.

No wonder I would rather talk about mouse balls! :p

It is a sunny 60 here. Unfortunately I have inside chores to do, before I can go out and play :p
Laundry is in the machine, dishwasher is emptied and in the process of being refilled, I got zucchini bread to make and pizza dough to finish, and the bathroom still needs to be cleaned and the rugs vacuumed.

So lets talk some more about those mice and their balls

I managed to get my pajama bottoms mended last night.

The other night, when we ran out to see why the ambulance was next door, I was already in my pj's. I just threw on a warm jacket and my clogs and ran over. At some point I noticed a bit of a draft on my rear. Upon checking, I realized I had a good sized hole in my pants  Good thing it was dark out.

These are my special pj's. ;) A very old pair of purple plaid. A few years ago I tore them at the knee and decided to mend them, not bothering to turn them inside out. So the frazzled seam is on the outside  Now they have a new mend and should be good for another 3-5 years :p

Got the kitchen cleaned, sort of
ground up my homegrown hungarian paprika
fed the goats and the chickens
talked to one of neighbor's sons
got two loads of laundry hung up
dishwasher is almost full

Now to grind some grains and grate zucchini for zucchini bread. We plan on bringing one to the neighbors' and one for DD, one for the freezer and one for desert tonight.

I want to lie out there in the sun and read or at least do outside work. But I really need to get this baking done. At least SO helped me crack the walnuts last night.
