You all don’t just store your rice in the freezer?
no, we don't use the freezer for those sorts of things, nuts yes, rice, flour, bulk items no, because we use the freezer for storing food portions from things we make once in a while. meals ready to go after they thaw out or get warmed up in the microwave. the closest i get to bulk items in the freezer is beans that are cooked and then drained and frozen in quart jars. those are very handy for all sorts of uses.
in recent years i hardly eat rice. it's not something in the plain white form that appeals to me that often. i'd rather eat tapioca if i'm looking for a starchy dessert.
