City Biddy
My particular favorite guru is John Lyons.
FF, I think this is simply ingenious!!!! Oh, how I wish you would post a pic! This is marketing at its best, I can tell you. Did you sell any?The "City Biddy", a part played by my French hen, went over great as well. My little henny wore her dress, stood on her little "stage" and "talked" very sweetly to all visitors for about 4 hours with only two very short breaks needed.
Her little "stage" is a foam board cartoonish "city" on three sides and a white picket fence made from garden edging on the fourth. It is set up on a plastic picnic table with table skirts and an information area in front of the picket fence on the visitor side. Henny just stands in the middle wearing her dress and only rarely feels any need to "go walk-about". When she gets restless I simply remove the "skirt" portion of her dress, which is velcroed to her Lycra "body harness", and place her in a large dog kennel in the dark under the table for a while to rest.
It all seems to agree with her very well. She talks and sings, she eats a little from her feed bowl (which looks like a bright pink mini wash tub) and drinks a little from her water bowl (which is a spring green mini wash tub) then snacks on the dandelion greens or clover stems offered by her "public". (We feed her those special greens on "tour" because if a place has dandelions and clover they probably don't spray the grass!) Both times we have done this now she goes right home and becomes a plain chicken again. This last time we decided to go to a farm store nearby that has a great selection, but because of it's location sister and I very seldom get the chance to go. When we came back out to the truck after shopping, henny had already laid her egg in her travel case! Not to bad for a "stressed out" hen. She was still singing ... all part of her "normal" day!
