Awesome! I am putting the front porch to work this year too. So far I have some patty pan squash and a sage plant. Waiting for the zucchini to sprout.

Just catching up with you, FF; busy as usual, I see. :D

I just loved the pics and description of your prairie adventure. I felt like I was sitting there beside you. Dvorak composed some of my favorite music... sigh.......

Your garden is looking great. Most of our container veg just got too much rain this spring. I am replanting now. :/

I have been asking around for a fruit cocktail tree like you have. Everyone is looking at me like I have 3 heads. So I have a couople questions:

Does it have another name?

Do you think it would grow in a large (like barrel size) container? Since we are renting here...and looking to move....I would hate to plant and leave behind something that the landlords wouldn't appreciate.

And other garden questions:

Did you plant the cockscomb seeds?
Did they grow?

That looks totally awesome!

Say, my garden is getting "slugged"....what do you use for them? I want my chickens to scratch around in there later in the season so don't want to put down poison. But the slugs are getting everything! Suggestions? I'm not keeping up with hand-picking despite my efforts.

I use food grade DE, occasionally salt. Can't see wasting the beer.

DE kills slugs? How cool, I already have some of that.

I love this forum! Thanks!
