Giant prayers going out today. I just read a report that the Phillipenes did not "suffer significantly from the tsunami", whatever that means.

Will pray for your parents.

And I thought some of my bosses had been bad! Yikes!

Good to hear the paid week off at the other job. Has to be some good to balance out the bad. :)

Thanks for the prayers. Yes, the team has been contacted and they are safe.

I freaked out this morning because when I got up and read the news, no one really knew anything yet and the first article I read said they were predicting such large waves that it could wipe out some islands in the Pacific.

Chickens!!! I just got back from a swap meet at the stockyards. YIKES!!! Some good looking OEG and a few banties but I wanted big stock hens. I'm afraid the banties wouldn't stay in the yard and would be more predator prone. Lots of very bedraggled, rough and even some sick stuff... but there were some okay sellers. One guy had about 20 black sex link and they were plump, shiny, and not a bedraggled feather in the lot. They also had very calm dispositions and I liked how he handled them so I picked up six.

I was a bit bummed because I had really been wanting a mixed flock but healthy is much more important than pretty. These gals are his last years chicks so I figure they ought to have a lot of laying in them for this summer. They were so calm as I put them in the shed and handled them. I'm really excited because they all seem so sweet. Very well handled and not skittish at all. It's so good to hear that happy chirupping sound that they make!

I have three black sex links right now and they are laying machines! I REALLY like the black sex link as an over all producer. They are not extremely beautiful, they won't go broody and they are not a heritage breed, but they will sure put eggs on the table and do it for several years!

I think you made a good choice. :thumbsup
