Sold 2 more items from the craigslist ads today! More listings going up tomorrow. Also made $20 for doing a small custom job from the gallery as a sub-contractor at home. (10 minutes on the table saw!)

Tomorrow I'm going to pick up a push mower from a lady that just bought a new one from Home Depot. She asked MyT Man if he knew of anyplace she could get rid of her old one . Yup! That's me, the lawnmower dump lady.

Okay, definitely the lawnmower dump lady! Have 2 more to go pick up on Monday. The one I picked up today looks to be in really good shape. MyT Man will go through all of them early next week and then it's on to craigslist!

I can't wait for Monday!!! A week off. I'm not going to know what to do with myself. Mow, weed, build chicken pens, pick up topsoil, pick up compost, plant summer crops, weed some more, smoke some stuff. I also need to do some networking. See if I can scare up another job to replace this one.

I might have someone interested in going halves with us on half a beef. Half is just a bit much for us right now and the other place that sells 1/4's doesn't let you customize the cuts and it's about 2/3 the price of getting a 1/2 so it's not as economical. I'm going to talk to her early next week.

Or the chicken dump lady... just got a call from DH and we ended up with 10 hens, not 5. Good thing they were free!

Blessed. I. Am. So. Blessed.

My heart just broke a few minutes ago. Young kid maybe 15 just checked in as a guest from WV. His dad is in the hospital here. No ID and he had his money crumpled in a dirty old sock shoved in his front pocket. Not even a wallet. Someone tried to rob him at knifepoint while he was sleeping on the floor of a waiting room last night. Just t-shirt, torn jeans and sandals on his feet carrying a pillow.

Luckily a social worker was able to refer him here and he's got a safe warm place and food for the night... Sometimes I just want to stomp my feet and scream "WHY???" It reminds me yet again of why MyT Man and I are working so hard... for the farm to be safe haven and refuge for those that need it. That is our mission.

Thanks everyone for the hugs.

So the 10 chickens ended up being passed on to the lady who took the last two. They're just too wild for me and perfect for her so it's a good match. I did figure out though that the injured one came that way and it wasn't my dog that had gotten her, half of these came injured. I can't understand someone who would let their animals get in this condition :somad.

Today we had a call for an emergency welding project so everything else got postponed until later as we had to weld a security frame to keep burglars out of an industrial building and it had to be installed before dark.

Made homemade pea soup and corned beef for dinner tonight.

Tomorrow I have to go get blood drawn for my upcoming dr. appt. I hate having blood drawn, always makes me feel woozy.

Then tomorrow night I'm going to get free compost from a listing from CL and Friday I'm trading a lady 2 barred rock for an almond tree. I think I'm getting the better end of that deal!

Cleaned house and voted in the primaries today. That's it I guess...

Whew! Been busy round here.

So the lady sneezed when I was having my blood drawn. All I could think of was -Man I wish OFG were here! Then the thought of the ensuing battle made me want to start giggling and jiggling around when you have a needle half way up to your armpit is not a good idea!

Wednesday I rested. The. Whole. Day. :woot

Yesterday we got a load of compost from a local horse farm, then went to a wholesale landscaping place and got a bit more topsoil. Worked that all in and then ran to Home Depot and got all their busted bags of potting soil for $2/bag. Got that all unloaded and made one more run for horse compost for top dressing after I get the planting done today.

Decided to part the turkeys before smoking them today so yesterday I cut them up, put 2 carcasses on the stove to make stock, made brine and and herbal oil to rub the skin with. I also placed an order for 4 1 gallon jars and 6 1/2 gallon jars so I can do more fermenting!

We also got the back yard mowed and raked. I am not exaggerating when I say it was knee high. I don't think we've mowed for 2 months back there. It's just been too wet. Looks nice again now!

Today I have to run to the chiro, run a load to goodwill that we cleaned out of the closets yesterday, put up a fence around the garden boxes to keep the chickens and dogs out, stick the turkey in the smoker, clean out the gutters, and plant.

Tomorrow is canning turkey stock, repotting some herbs, weeding, and anything else I don't finish up from today. I'm also meeting a gal to trade my almond tree for 2 3 month old Barred rocks. They'll fit in perfectly with my older group of chicks.

Oh, we also cleaned up that free lawnmower that we got, washed it up, put new gas and oil in and sold it the same day for just under 1/2 of the retail price!

Hmm... I think that's it... swoosh....... and I'm off again.
