Don't you just hate it when you have to get rid of something that's so comfortable. I have a shirt like that. It's stained up, (partly by a horse that wanted to play w/it) it's frayed and it's old. It used to have a decal on the back-that's long gone. But, the embroidered wolf on the front is still good, so I keep wearing it.

Gotta admit I miss my old shoes - but the new ones are oh so much more comfortable!

We went to the m-i-l's place for T-day. There was a total of 13 for dinner and a few others that rotated in and out for a quick visit. DH and I took separate cars so that I could come home a day earlier and he could visit more with his brother who lives out-of-state. It was a nice visit - his family is so much more family friendly than mine.

I came back Thursday afternoon, hoping to stop by my parent's house for a visit. I'm trying to re-establish a closer bond since my sister passed. Called my mom when I was about 30 minutes away from their house and she was napping. I told her I'd be driving by their place in about a half-hour.... Geeze mom - was it too much for you to get out of bed so I could stop by? Guess so..... story of my life.

Got home earlier than I thought I would so I took advantage of the extra time and worked some more on the critter shed I'm building. I am sooo NOT a carpenter, lol. I've got three walls up and have no idea what to do about a roof....:barnie

I'm kinda doing this on a wing and a prayer so I'm expecting some epiphany that will make all this clear to me. OMG... ya'll pray that I can figure something out. It's quickly dawning on me that I shoulda made provisions for roof supports BEFORE I put the walls up. Any body in the Houston vicinity that feels sorry for me yet?????

The goat with the eye problem is just not good. Her eyes look lots better - no more tearing, swelling has gone totally down in one eye, and is much better in the other eye. But - she's blind. I really don't think it's pinkeye - because none of the other 24 goats on this place have any issue at all. I can't figure it out. She's had 6 days of treatment and I'm gonna give her another few days but if she doesn't come out of it - I'll have to put her down. I could keep her up in a stall forever - but what kind of life is that? She'd have to be kept alone cuz even the friendliest other goats will still butt the heck out of her at feeding time and she's got no way of defending herself if she can't see.... Poor ol' gal.

We got rain today! We've been in a drought situation again.... about 4 inches behind in rainfall. Not horrible, and not nearly the 20+ inches behind that we had last summer, but we needed rain. And - we got it! Must have had at least an inch. Not too shabby.

Just finished a meal of elk venison that was given to us by one of the relatives. Great flavor - but dry.... :( Come on folks - you gotta put some FAT in that sausage, lol

My old body hurts - too much building, hammering, sawing, nailing things up, pulling them down, adding more supports.... just too much carpentry for my old self. Geeze, I need a little cheese with my whine, lol! I'm heading to the hot tub.

Our favorite time in the tub is when it's COLD outside! The water is at least 100 degrees so if you're submerged you're toasty! The hot tub is on the back porch just outside the door that goes into the breezeway. So, when you get out of the tub you're still warm from the water and you RUN back inside, lol. Last year we got in every time the temp went below freezing...which was... maybe twice .

Had to milk first, but now I'm headed to soak!

Thanks Pink, I'm gonna give her a few more days and see if she improves, but I dunno....

DH and I are pretty frugal, but the hot tub is one of the best things we EVER spent money on, lol. (and we remind ourselves every time we get into it, lol)

Nice day today. Weather was cool, but bee-you-tee-ful! We started our day by taking in a movie this morning. WE saw "Flight" with Denzel Washington. He's such an incredible actor and the movie was very thought provoking. I'm not gonna say anything more about it in case someone is planning on seeing it. I give it two thumbs up!

We didn't really do much of anything else...sorta. Watched a little football and I went to the neighbors yard and picked up some more pecans. I must have 30 lbs of 'em by now. And, I'm going back tomorrow to pick up some more. I can't help myself - I can't stand to see anything wasted like that. I also spent about an hour cracking and picking some of them. I've got a quart jar filled with 'em. If it takes me an hour to crack a quart - I'll be spending a LOT of time cracking pecans, lol.

I did exactly nothing on the critter shack today - but I think I've got the roof thing figured out. I think I can get it framed up tomorrow - may be a little longer before I actually get it shingled. When that's finished I need to start on the next one - oh goody - more grunt work for me....sigh. I will be SO GLAD when DH's hand gets better. While I'm mostly capable of doing everything around here by myself -no one said I have to like it, lol.

A tiny bit of news about the sight challenged goat. I'm pretty sure she's got some vision in her right eye. It's not perfect by any means, but yesterday she couldn't see anything - so it's improvement!

I'm already looking forward to my Christmas break. I get about 2 and a half weeks off and I've already got more plans than I have time to do. My most ambitious project will be building some raised beds. I've got plenty of garden space out back, but I want some beds in the back yard. I'll use those beds for the more challenging veggies. Mainly tomatoes... I'll make at least one bed that I can enclose to keep the stinking stink bugs off of my 'maters! Grrrrr

Just having a few gardening day dreams right now - is it spring yet?

I want to see that movie! We haven't been to the movies since I can't remember when  I do remember that I pitched a huge frugal-fit over the ticket prices! :p

I wish it was Spring!!! I can't wait to test out some new theories and try some more experiments! I love being a mad scientist in my garden

Wish pecans grew up here :/ I have tried growing several 'Northern' and 'cold hardy' types. They all croaked. I love pecans, and almonds, and walnuts, and... :D

SSD, and that's why I don't go to the movies! I can't see spending all that money, plus the money for snacks and beverages. Plus, they're too loud for me anyway.
