Woo-hoo for chickies! 128 - that's awesome!

Oh yea - if he wants anything else from me he will work hard for it. In fact, if he can't work as hard as I do (and I doubt he can) - he can 'forget about it!' (said in my best gangsta' accent)

Will prolly order my Midget Whites this week!!!

FEM, you're not unchristian to not want to give them eggs. There's a verse in the Bible, can't remember exactly where it's found, but it says if a man will not work, neither will he eat. (It's in one of Paul's epistles) It would be one thing if they were disabled, but they can work, so either they help or they pay, period.

Thanks, Deb. I struggled with this so much yesterday. But, my perspective now is that I've been charitable, I've given them eggs on three occasions already. They know how hard I work - they see me. I even know that they've stolen from me and I've still given them things...not just eggs, but vegetables too. They've borrowed things and never paid back...

We do share the trash bill with them, so I'm going to tell them that I can supply them with a dozen eggs a week - at $2.50 a dozen - and I'll deduct that from the money I pay them for trash pick-up. Easy-peasy. I should have thought of it earlier.

On another note - DH and I have been lamenting the fact that we didn't make a big farm purchase this past year and we'll suffer on our taxes because of it. Soooooooo, I told him this morning that I've been thinking about what our next big purchase should be. A milking machine! I love milking my goats and I have a market for the extra milk - but my hands are beginning to complain. Computing and milking are just too much I guess.

I think I've got 5 does bred so there's NO way I can milk all of them, lol. Not sure I'll even try. I'll probably sell at least one of the Nubians after she kids. I want to concentrate more on the Kinders, so I'll need to delete some of the extra mouths and Nubians eat a lot!

Except for heavy morning fog our weather has been awesome. Hope everyone stays warm and dry!

The 'mom cave'! I LOVE IT! I think I should have one too! After all, my BD is next week. Unfortunately, I've got about a gazillion things on my list... new greenhouse, new turkeys, and some of these really cool 'dog houses converted to chicken houses.'

I want to call the builder and see if he can add a nextbox that opens to the outside. Perfect for a pair or trio of chickies!

So, TGIF everybody!

I got off a little bit early today and DH worked form home(GRRRR - I wanna work from home too!) so he started dinner. There's a pot-roast bubbling away in the crock pot right now. Yummy - I'm really gonna enjoy that. I want cornbread too....

With the new chicken pens that I put together last weekend I needed to do some chicken shuffling. Isn't it funny that with their tiny little brains a chicken just "knows" when you're gonna try to catch 'em. If I go in just to collect eggs I have to practically kick 'em outta my way - but if I even THINK about catchin' one of 'em - they scatter to the far corners -screaming in terror and throwing themselves against the fencing. Geeze - the drama!

Sigh....I've gotta work tomorrow so I probably won't get much more shuffling done for a few more days anyway, but I can live with that. As long as the weather stays this perfect, I'm okay with NOT moving anything for a while. I have a Black Orpington witch that keeps escaping her pen just so she can lay in a different nest. What's up with that? I put fresh hay in her nest and she still escapes. I don't understand chicken logic at all.

Okay ya'll - that roast is calling me!

Grrrrr. I hate escapees.... They are the worst!

My birds must be on strike, I'm hardly getting any eggs. Maybe it's because of all the moving around latey, but to get 1 or 2 eggs out of a pen of 15 hens... this is not good! They were doing so good for so long I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. And of course, right when I want to fire up the incubator again.
