Went to see the old folks today. Dad looked like crap...scabs on his head and his chin. I asked him where they came from and he said he'd been "picking" - ugh! But mom looked great! Generally when she's sitting up she's all hunkered over like she can't even sit up straight. She was sitting at a table with her back straight and her arms folded in front of her. She made sense when she talked and ate every single bite of her lunch and dessert. Wow!

There's a really sweet lady that is almost always at the AL facility. Her husband is a resident there. When we first got mom and dad there I thought she was an employee because she was always helping the residents and the other employees. But, nope - she's just one of the kindest, sweetest most caring people I've ever met. When mom was so sick that we thought she was going to die the lady came and sat with me...didn't say much but just sat with me. I found out today that her husband has had a stroke and is on hospice now. So sad...

Got a few of the tomatoes tied up to some supports today - but it was only a beginning. Lots more to do. It was cold-ish and damp all day and just no fun to be outside. I can see where lots of things I planted are starting to pop outta the ground. So far the tomatoes and their blossoms look like they survived the cold snap. YAY! Bought some grass seed at TSC today. I'm gonna till the third section of the buck pen and throw some of this seed out. I have another pen that I don't use often so I think I'll till it up and plant it too.

Sorry - I didn't have my phone with me today so no pics of Gracie... I know - I'm a slacker!

Glad your mom was doing so well today! That must be great to see! Ugh is that a normal habit for your dad or a new one? That's an awful habit to have!

I suppose we can forgive you for the lack of Gracie pics. For now! Lol

Hey how're the pigs? And quail?

That is good news about your Mom, glad that she is doing so well. That lady that is always helping others at the AL facility just has so much goodness in her. Some people are overflowing with love and kindness for others, too bad there aren't more like her.

Seems to be a new one...spoke with a caregiver and she said she's always reminding him to stop. Maybe it's a nervous habit...but ugh. He does need his fingernails trimmed and they don't do that there. They will file them with an emery board, but they won't clip them. I'll remedy that situation the next time I'm there. I'm gonna clip them things so short he won't be able to pick anything. Yuck though ... just yuck!

You're right about that. She helps everyone and always has a smile on her face. She actually brings in food and cooks extra's for the residents and brings in treats for them too. Yesterday she made iced tea for them - they usually get juice - but some of them wanted tea so she made tea. I didn't want to feel like a slacker so I brought in some mini-cupcakes for everybody. There are only 16 residents when they are at full capacity so it's not too much to do to give them an extra treat. I brought a few extras for the staff too. Never hurts to keep them happy!

We are usually there at lunch time because I know mom and dad will be awake. There is a new resident there that has had a stroke and has trouble feeding herself so while I fed mom - DH helped the other lady. There is quite an atmosphere of mutual help/caring at this place and it's one of the reasons I am so pleased they are there.

Conan didn't want his bottle this morning - WHAT???? He drank about 1/3 of it and walked away. He seemed fine in all other aspects, but you know I'm gonna worry about him all day until I can get home this afternoon.

Lucy is making changes in her udder and ligaments. I think she's on day 145 today - but she's not quite ready. She'll have a few more days to go - but surely within a week. I want some DOELINGS! It's not asking too much is it? I've got all boys and I want some stinkin' girls already!

Ok- here y'all go....pic of Gracie. I wish I could've gotten some action shots- but they usually are a blur because she's perpetual motion. Had to put her in a sit/stay just to be able to get a shot, lol.

She's focusing on a rooster that's "harassing" a hen - she wants to go break it up, lol!
