Eek! You got the orps moved! Lol

I hate to say it but I kind of enjoy when my husband leaves once in a while. More so when I don't have a baby but still... Nice to do what I want, when I want!

I did, I did! Actuallly, I just took all the other breeds out of the big pen and left the orps in there. That way they won't be too stressed and should just keep, or get back to, laying pretty quickly. I have no idea who's been laying eggs in that pen since there were several breeds in there.

Here's a question for you. Lavender to Lavender should give 100% Lavender chicks. However, since I only have 3 Lavender hens, the eggs won't be terribly abundant. But, if I were to toss a couple black Orps back in that pen with the Lavender roo's there would be a 50% chance that they would produce Lavenders and 50% chance they would be black. Would you prefer straight Lavender x Lavender eggs or in the interest of getting more eggs quickly would you want to throw a couple black hens in the pen? Totally your call.

I kinda enjoy DH leaving sometimes too...I just worry about him taking care of himself. He's so bad at it!

Okie dokie - black added to the mix! Now we wait - probably until the end of the month at least before I start holding eggs.

Lol! No, I don't but my husband and daughter do! And of all the breeds we've had, the only ones I kinda like are the Dominiques and our white orpingtons.

These are for DD1 - and I ain't got no turkey's, lol! Even though I keep talking about getting Midget Whites.... however, if you let a Cornish x grow enough - it'll get to the same size!

I like Orpingtons....they are really nice birds - not troublemakers at all. Even though the roos will spar among themselves they don't go at it for the kill like some roo's do. The hens are quiet, good layers and just general all around sweet birds.

They're similar in personality to my doms, the hens anyway.

Turkeys are so cool, you should get a couple! They're just fun to have!

I had a big ol' Buff Orpington who was king of all the roos until he was about 10 years old. Longest I've ever had a chicken. When one of the young roos claimed the kingdom - he was never the same and died shortly after. :(
