So....since my two Saanans are fancy pants girls and I'd like to breed them to a fancy pants boy I thought it was time I joined the ADGA just in case little g wants to show them.

I got a member number now! Next step is to register a herd name so I can name babies, then get these gals transferred into my name....OMG. I'm overloaded with paperwork.

Work, hmmm...that reminds me of something

....oh wait....There's something I'm supposed to be doing....

Can't quite think of it....

I think it starts with a W and ends with a K.....

So what is your herd name? Forgive me if you already said.

Well...if they'll let me I want it to be Aspen Creek but I looked up goats with that herd name and it appears as though it was already taken. The goats listed with that name are about 10+ years old so maybe they didn't pay for a permanent name...who the heck knows how that stuff works!

We don't have a creek named Aspen by our house, mind you. We do have a beautiful creek and one day we were talking about what we should name our farm. Our first (and current) dog's name is Aspen, and we used to LOVE Aspen Edge beer made by Coors when it was out so Aspen Creek Farm blurted out of my mouth.

You could really be fancy and belong to ADGA, AGS and NDGA.

Coming over to the dark side of breeders? Welcome!

I still have yet to register, I'm hoping to really soon. Especially since I've been using my wanna be herd name for a lot! (<--------) I'll be registering with ADGA and AGS since all my animals are dual registered before I bought them.

I feel like I should go out and buy a new hat.... :hide

I'm never going to give up my "mutt" gals...no way in heck. I still want to provide families like ours with the chance to have a milk goat and not pay oodles of $ for them but at the same time, if I can get fancy pants goats for a steal and also have babies that are registered why not? IMO, there's no difference between my mixed breed herd queen and the fancy pants papered gals I now have. Acutally, my mixed gals just look better over all....but I'm biased there! :p

I'm not against showing goats either - actually I'm quite interested. I'd love for little g to get into SOMETHING he enjoys. He's not into computers, video games or sitting inside. He is really starting to love our animals so I figured I could introduce him to 4H and stuff and go from there.

I'd just hate to have these gals who come with milking records, fancy certificates and such and not do what they're meant to do. It's like having a race car and letting it sit in the garage...

You snob! I'm kidding. My goats are registered too and I have a herd name, farm name and all that with MDGA. I figured it couldn't hurt for selling the babies, plus it's a great way to keep track of lineage. Mini-manchas aren't as diverse as other breeds so you have to know what you are getting. I don't think I'll ever be a real breeder though - I just want the milk.

WTH? What happened to just SUGAR?

At least my girls are pretty easy...just Daughter's Jenny or Daughter's Katie - at least I think it's just that simple!

yeah - I don't have the brain power to keep all that straight either. But I know it has something to do with shows, and milk testing and something about legs...:gig Mine get people names that I can remember. Short people names. Short names, not short people :p

Sometimes it depends on the person picking up the kid whether or not it's a short name or long name....
