I'll just say for the most part, yes, I've enjoyed this site.

Seriously, I get very inspired to try new things by reading about other's experiences and asking questions.

I feel accountable to people here, too, for some reason I can't describe. Accountable to follow through on projects and report what I've learned here, if only to give back what I can in thanks for all I've received.

:love
This is my biggest difference... you people have inspired me to follow through with all those things that I was going to do 'someday'... you made 'someday' become today :)

I'm inspired everyday to try new things, and since I do have an entire forum of people to be accountable to, I'm finding that I follow through.

I've been wanting to learn to can things for YEARS... I canned up some dilly beans because I was excited to post on the 'what are you canning today' thread... lol how silly is that?

I've been wanting chickens for YEARS... I've had pallets delivered and will start building a chicken coop next weekend, for the chicks who will arrive from the farmer's co-op in spring. I can't wait to post my coop construction in my journal...

I just think it's fabulous to have a group of people who get excited, and who are encouraging and willing to share their knowledge... instead of the people around here who just say 'why on earth would you do that?'

Oh my, this forum has impacted me in so many ways, too many to name!

You all were there to lend emotional support when we had to move and that meant a lot to me. You all are always there to lend advice, or just let me (anyone) vent! I love the positive mindset of everyone here and they way we can all kind of *lean* on each other when needed.

I have learned about canning, chicken keeping, gardening, healthy eating, cooking, stockpiling, stripper poles & bacon martinis, how to butcher a cow and how to scare off the trash man :p

Things that I have picked up that will serve me well in the future are little bits about lots of different topics... bees, pigs (and their hoohoos), sheeple, goaties, cob ovens, soap making, mead brewing, sewing... the list is endless!

You all are an invaluable resource for me, for information and friendship....love ya all!

I love this forum- you all don't think I'm nuts :D I took up making jam, I use honey more than sugar (I still havent gotten the nerve to get a hive or two). I am more adventurous in my veggie garden. I no longer buy laundry soap. I make yogurt. I made soap! I know about rocket stoves, and may try it this spring for boiling my maple sap. I still haven't made cheese, but it is on my list! All I need is time.

You all are an inspiration and a kick in the pants to get myself going.

Jawja, y'all
I agree with what y'all have said - this is such a great, supportive group. And it IS nice to talk about projects and ideas with people cheering you on and giving advice, rather than saying 'why the heck would you do that'.

(I just have to insert here that I was teased mercilessly at work when I kept bringing in my darning to do at lunch. And a secret santa gave me a bag of new socks for Christmas...not that I don't greatly appreciate the new socks! :gig)

It does cross my mind sometimes that if TSHTF, internet service as we know it might go kaput, or unapproved forums be shut down. That would be a big blow to my general happiness! DH did mention yesterday that he heard some government entity is looking to tax internet use. :(

Hmmmmm, just really can't think of any way to answer this diplomatically so I'll just leave it at yes, I've learned some great things and for the most part it's been a fun place to go.
