We are off to the lab for DS's bloodwork. He is not looking forward to this. He hasn't had blood drawn for a few years. Oh well, we need to get it over with so we can get answers.
Then we are stopping at TSC for goat supplies! We need shingles at Home Depot too. The roof of the barn needs to be finished finally. I think. I really think I may just buy stain for it while we are there. I'm thinking a nice opaque sage green with barn red trim. Nifty may get his updated "pentacoop" post from me finally!
We should be able to spend the day today working in the yard both doing routine stuff, repairing the dog fence and getting ready for goats.

Grrrrrrrr, DS is too small for the lab to draw all the blood in one day for all the tests the naturopath ordered. We will have to go back Wednesday. At least he won't have to fast for that one. He's not happy but he was a champ when there today! I was so proud.
We are headed out to the yard to lay out the goat pen. No purchase of fencing material yet but DH will be on the phone to the coworker with the sheep fence shortly. We're thinking it will be sturdier than welded wire at about the same price.
We did buy the rest of the shingles for the roof and stain for the exterior! Sage green, just like I wanted but we went with transparent. Pics later I hope. If I get myself out there to help. The list of projects is much longer than the day and tomorrow is devoted to baseball.
Ah, and the screaming little girls next door are out so we'll have them and their barking shepherds to listen to. And I was worried about goat noise......

Free and OFG are such goat enablers and Blackbird too!! It's all your guys' fault that I have those cute little snugly skip hopping getting into and onto everything escape artists

Speaking of which, where is Blackbird? He hasn't been on here for a while.

Sorry about your little guy needing to go and get more blood drawn. Hopefully it'll pay off though.

Not sure about the neighbor. He's the only other one on the street that's ever had livestock, other than me and the guy in the "hollow" whoe has something down there that I can't quite see. Anyway, Tony has had pigs, chickens and one point sheep and a cow. The cow was when he was a little kid and before I moved here. He got 23 chicks one year. #23 turned out to be a rooster that crowed a lot and he eventually shot it we think. :( Nothing ever stayed very long.
I've got the first coat of stain on the front side of the BARN. I'm determined to stop calling it the coop. DH has gone off to the dump (it is Saturday after all) and then he will be calling to go get the fencing. Then it's off to TSC with the truck to pick up fence posts. There's even more room back there than I thought. And lots of stumps and boulders for goats to hop around on.

First coat is on almost all sides. DH is in my way for the others. To the right of the BARN is the area where we will pen the goats. Some of the boulders will have to be moved a bit. I'm worried they will be launching pads to clear the fence. DH is almost done with the roof. There is trim to do eventually. More importantly will be the interior goat stall and their door out into the pen.
I was asked today what I want for Mother's Day. Silly man.

Love your new barn. Do you have a set of plans for that? Not that DH will ever build me one.....But a girl can wish can't she?

I actually do somewhere. When I was posting progress over on BYC people were asking like crazy. At one point Strombergs was selling the kits. I am hesitant to make promises any more but I will try to locate the plans I scanned and send them as an attachment.
It's been up for two years; we're just finally finishing it up!
