I'm an adult and I can't stop fidgeting. There are times when I can control it but if I need to do it and try to stop, it's just frustrating. How is it that teacher's are now the dictators of what a person is physically capable of?

Kids are supposed to be running around, pretending to do adult stuff, using their imagination & just being KIDS. They have tics, it happens. If they aren't disruptive (serious outbursts & the like) they should be accepted as part of the child.

My "nephews" are both brilliant children, reading at college levels. One has to chew on his cheek to concentrate, the other has to lightly tap his pencil, or his foot if he is writing. If they are not allowed to do that, they simply cannot focus on their work. For a week at public school the older (the tapper) was bringing home loooow grades, so mom got a conference with the teacher. She was taking his pencil & making him stand in the corner (at 11!) for tapping while he worked.

They are at a Christian academy now, and soon they'll be back in homeschool, where mom doesn't care if they tap or chew.

Woo hoo, school's almost out!

<--- Foot twitcher. I just hate the "pressure building" feeling that comes when I am not in a place where I can fidget. As we speak, my leg is bouncing up and down shaking my entire computer. :ya (closest I could find to a twitcher)

:gig I'm chewing gum AND shaking my knee as I type. Her reply to my complaint was that it was beyond her control because the administration only gave her two days to test all the kids and one of them was a half day. Well, not guite true. She forgets that my mother is one of the subs who covers on these days. The reason she got stuck with a half day was that she procrastinated about signing up for one of the subs to cover and that's what she got stuck with.
I hate when people think I'm stupid.

You son is so cute. Brings back memories of my oldest and baseball. It was a pain and I usually spent the entire game trying to keep my youngest from running away or leaving a path of destruction, but I am glad we did it :p

"Fidgits" got him removed from art class???

WTH?

He is a BOY. He is YOUNG. OF COURSE HE IS GOING TO "FIGIT"!!!

That teacher is a power abusive NUT BAG!

My son is physically incapable of NOT fidgeting. If you try to get him to stop he has a total meltdown. It is a pressure relief valve of sorts.
Thanks! It's tiring but fun. It would be more fun if I could watch rather than try to keep them under control in the dug out. Oh well. I'm getting to know some of them better. And no one else stepped up. As usual.

I'm not sure there's an emoticon for today. Here's how it went...
I already wrote about teacher's reply to my complaint. That gets this one :duc and this one :he and a good old fashioned  and some :somad :rant :tongue and another :somad
I got home and checked voice mail. Call from Naturopath's office. Hmmmm. Didn't order anything, no appt. until June, could only be test results. Called back. Receptionist: "Dr. F is wondering if you'd like to bring Alex back sooner than June 3 to review blood test results (I am a little panicky at this point because she tested for a LOT of stuff). There were some positive allergy results and she thought you shouldn't wait that long to go over them." Okey, dokey. I said sure, when. She says they have an opening tomorrow at 7:30am. I say that will be perfect. I mention that I haven't received my copy of the results yet. She goes on to tell me that he tested positive for a number of things; peanuts, corn, barley, sesame seeds, grass, trees, life....... I'll get the complete list tomorrow :barnie :th This is the part where there is no smiley emotional enough.... well this works :hit Seems I've been all but posioning my kiddo. I know, no sense in beating myself up. We learn, we move on, we deal.

I got kiddo off the bus to find out he had yet another set of behavior objectives today, which he did crappy on. I called my mother while he got to his homework and all the unfinished work he brought home (I think I'm expected to be glad he didn't lose recess). Mom subbed today and heard lots of good stuff like the fact that the teacher continued her testing today, without a sub, so she did it in the room and gave the kids a ton of seat work to keep them busy. No actual teaching went on. And yet if I were to complain she'd blame the administration for it saying she's forced to do the testing. This is true to an extent but her poor planning in signing up for a sub is NOT the administration's fault. She will be testing again tomorrow and there will be a sub.
28 days, one of which is a field trip and one is Field Day.
The cafeteria manager wrote me back saying she wasn't sure what had happened. She apologized and removed the amount due from his account. I can only assume someone entered his # by mistake. He swears he didn't buy anything. The manage said she'd remind everyone he can't have cafeteria food. After tomorrow that will be all the more important.

8 days no dairy and I'm still itching like crazy. I think I need some allergy testing too. I'm bringing my lab slip back to ask her to order it.
