 Good one free!

Seriously, how dumb can the teacher be??

Even the other children in my classroom (ages 3-6) knew when their fellow classmate couldn't have a certain kind of food!

I'm sorry, there really is NO excuse, and this coming from someone with experience!

Here is my letter to her, cc to the principal and the superintendant:

Dear Ms Idiot:

I have asked you several times not to give any food to my severely allergic son, blank-blank, that I have not prepared for him myself. There are several common ingredients that could make him seriously ill or even CAUSE HIS DEATH, as has already been made clear to you and to the principal. Again you risked my son's life for your own convenience. How dare you disregard the welfare of any child in your care.

I want to make it very clear to you that should this happen again, I will be pressing charges against you for child endangerment. Should my son become ill or worse at your hands, I assure you that I will do everything in my power to have you prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Meanwhile, I will be requesting in writing that you be dismissed from your position in this school district.

VERY Sincerely,

Your Worst Nightmare.

I would send this via registered mail and send copies to everyone up the line from this ridiculous idiot. Hmmm....maybe the State's Attorney should get a copy. That always gets attention. Ask me how I know. :D
I'm too wimpy to go that far even though I know I can and should. If there were more than two days left in the school year I would.

BBH, the teacher was the one standing in front of him allowing him to make the decision to eat the popsicle!!! And most likely handing it to him!!!! I stayed calm but told him he made the wrong choice. That it is not okay once in a while. That the longer he is not eating these foods the more likely he is to have a severe reaction.
I will be writing to the principal about our reasons for pulling him out of the school. She deserves to know.

Oh, that makes it even worse! Is she a first time teacher?? (Still NO excuse!) The admin needs to know.

If I were to make this sort of mistake, my head-master/ principal would have definitely tore me a new (you know what).

I don't even know any of my fellow teachers (in the last 15 years!!!) who would have let that happen.

P.S. if she were to tell the other children about what your son could or could not eat, they would have reminded her.

Many of them do know. It's an overcrowded classroom though and they may not have been paying attention. Who knows.
I DO work for the system and I don't yet have a contract for next year. That shouldn't change things since this could be a life threatening issue. I think she really assumes that he ate these foods before we found out about his allergies without dropping dead on her floor that there's little harm in letting him have something once in a while. I had hoped to have him off all foods he tested positive to for several months before trying him on some things. She's completely blown that for me.
I'm sure when I write my note she will email me back all defensive and put the blame on DS. For goodness sake HE'S 8!!!!! And it's almost summer vacation and OF COURSE he wanted a popsicle not some frozen GF, soy free, rice free, corn free, yeast free, dairy free stupid muffin. EVen stupider??? My mom was subbing, covering for meetings and there was only one in the morning. If she'd known she could have driven the .9 mile to my house and gotten him an all fruit popsicle that would have been safe.
Hey Free. I'm finally having that GF beer!

And no, she is not a first year teacher. She has been there a good 10 years or so and taught elsewhere before coming here.

Can you forward her soon to follow email to her principal?

(We had to be very careful (pc) what we could or could not put in writing to parents.)

Sorry, it is HER fault. (I have even posted BIG signs on my classrom door posted to ME or anyone subbing for the day to remind me/us not to let little "Andy" outside w/o insect repellent b/c he was highly allergic to mosquitoes.)

I will, especially if it's what I expect it will be. I'll share it here as well. The woman can't write a coherent sentence to save her life.
I can't type worth a darn anymore. One beer and I'm toast! I'm going to hug a goat or 3 and go to bed.

Isn't it grand, going to the barn for a middle-of-the-night goat therapy session? Especially in the winter, when they are all cozy and you become the Great Benefactress when you show up with a chopped apple and another flake of hay!
