Update: He's doing better, responding to treatment. SIL got in. FIL is sleeping. He'll be in the hospital for a week getting IV treatment. His doctors are very encouraged. He is responding much better than they expected a 91 year old man to do. (Typical of FIL-he refuses to act 91 all around!) MIL is also doing better, calmer with her kids there and seeing FIL sleeping peacefully. They got her to eat lunch which made a world of difference. Thanks for the support gang! :hugs

:/ Just called our friend and priest to fill him in. He and his dog are hiking and are currently lost in the woods. He was encouraged to see that he had cell service since he got my call but he's frustrated that he doesn't seem to be on the trail he thought he was on. Additional prayers are in order it seems.

:hugs and prayers coming your way.

Those tick born illnesses are bad. My hubby just about died from one a few years back. Glad to see he is responding and has good care.

I have to assume that he did. He had his dog with him. He was on a trail and had plenty of daylight left. He had a cell signal. He hikes a lot. He wasn't too worried. A parish wide APB would have gone out if he hadn't made it out.
Thanks for the prayers. DH will be heading home tomorrow after lunch and a good long morning visit with his dad.
From what he was able to share, conversations came up about selling the house. His parents have done a thorough job of planning and organizing what needs to be done after they pass, but they have not given serious thought to leaving the house. His mother now sees very clearly that she will not be able to stay there on her own, and that FIL isn't going to be up to taking care of the place like he always has. We'll have to see where the idea goes. They have been in the house for 50 years. MIL is having trouble getting up and down the stairs (bursitis in her hip and recurring issues from Lyme Disease. And now a new case of Lyme....) I suspect DH and his sister are sitting up talking about it right now.

Well, you are likely in for some wrenching times.....selling that house will not be fun, and a move is alway rough on all of us, but especially stressful on the elderly. Trust me on this one. Yikes. This is why I now have seven goats. I need lots of goat therapy!!!

(....getting ready for both Daisy AND Donki as certain ones may need more and more goat therapy....)
