Well, you are likely in for some wrenching times.....selling that house will not be fun, and a move is alway rough on all of us, but especially stressful on the elderly. Trust me on this one. Yikes. This is why I now have seven goats. I need lots of goat therapy!!!

(....getting ready for both Daisy AND Donki as certain ones may need more and more goat therapy....)
:) It won't be easy in a family as sentimental as this one. SIL going through a divorce and already feeling like her home is being shattered. She's all the way out in Iowa and has just started a business after not working for 18 years.... I know it will be very difficult for her. DH changing jobs after 27 years. Lots going on and to have to deal with all this is just another layer of worry and anxiety. We are 2.5 hours away. He isn't going to be able to hop down there every weekend, but he is going to feel like he needs to. He technically has this week and next week to finish the summer job. I'm trying to convince him we can get by without that last paycheck (they're not huge anyway) and he can take the week and a half to do what he needs to do. He owes nothing to his school. They are not even replacing him when he leaves. I won't rant about specifics in a public forum, but he need feel no guilt if he needs to stop working now. It's all in the priorities....

Geesh, sounds like you got some rough times ahead of you. :hugs
:hugs Hopefully the way this has happened will allow the rough times to come bit by bit, not all at once the way it does sometimes. I'm getting a little incoherent and I'm finally sleepy enough to go to bed. But not sure I'm making sense anymore......

I think it does help when you can prepare a bit for it. Hope you get a good night's sleep.
I think I will. If DH was on the road it would be one thing. But he's safe and sound at his parents' house so I should be able to sleep. We're locked up tight with three guard dogs keeping watch. Okay, two of them are deaf and the Golden would lick anyone who dared to enter.... I'm good and tired after the heat today. Didn't actually do much, but I'm tired anyway!

the heat will do that to you. Just drains the energy out of you. Of course I haven't experienced that this year, since all the heat moved east

It sure did! This is the worst summer I can remember in a long time! I just hate it. It just seems worse that I don't work in the summer but I'm too hot to actually do much with my time off. Then I feel guilty when summer is over and I haven't done a darn thing. :he

It is hard enough to work in the heat when you are used to it. It took me several years to adjust to the very hot summers. We learned to work early in the morning and late into the evening. We took midday siestas during the hottest part of the day.
Our beaches are rather cool here and we could have gone to the beach to get some relief, but we have animals and needed to look after them during the worst heat waves, turning on misters and giving the rabbit and fish ice. Any critter looking particularly bad got brought into the house, where it was a few degrees cooler.

this year our weather is about what it used to be 20 years ago.

We've run away to the beach several times this month, at the end of the day when the temperatures just weren't dropping. We did have to get back to lock up the birds and milk the goat but it did help some. We're an hour away though so it isn't something we can do every day.
DH just called. His mom and sister are both still sleeping. When they're up and ready they will head to the hospital and spend some time with FIL. SIL is going to drive FIL's car so she can drive herself and MIL back home and DH can leave for home after spending a few hours with his dad.
I left a message at DH's work that he didn't make it back to town last night. No call back so the right person must have gotten the message. I feel the anxiety about not getting all the work done before school starts from here. Oh well!
