oh GOLLY

you are so lucky!! give her like FIVE hugs from me!! whoooot!!!

:)
I passed on your hugs! We had a great time chatting (the 4 of us-both DHs came along) We stuffed ourselves at Chipotle Grill :drool I still haven't eaten dinner! I passed on a glass half gallon milk bottle and came home with both a kombucha scoby and kefir grains. :woot I'm still a little scared I'm going to kill them but I'll give it a shot. Tomorrow. I bought some daikon at WF on the way home. Just finished slicing them up and salting them. They're now in brine marinating for an hour. Not fermented but baby steps, ya know? I got a batch of chevre going earlier. It will be ready to drain in the morning before church.
Cooler temps tomorrow- :ya It was toasty today!

Hehe, we didn't talk about you guys tooooo much! :hide It would be a bit of a trip for you Gina, but it would be a blast! Nope, no pictures.... and I had my camera in my bag the whole time. We just got to talking and it never even crossed my mind!
Can you imagine a huge SS convention??? As it was we sat there for 3 hours or more 'til our butts hurt and the guys were yawning and worrrying about getting chores done. :D

I can MORE than imagine it! One time many years ago my aunt had a BBQ sleepover for a bunch of her horse pals and their spouses. All of the horsey people gathered together in one room and all of the less interested "normal" folks" gathered together in another room.

The normal folks played cards, watched a movie or two, there was perhaps even a sports game on. They ate they visited. They got bored to tears.

In the other room the horsey folk gathered. I am here to tell you that from about 4 PM when the first guests arrived to nearly 11 AM the next day when the last desperate spouse finally succeeded dragging their horsey companion away there was NOTHING but horse talk! Most of the horse crowd did not even sleep!! :ep

I can envision a gathering of the Self Sufficient to be similar ... only with more knitting, spinning, bean snapping and cooking going on. :D

You're probably right. I have been to large "Chickenstock" gatherings with lots of BYC people from CT and the surrounding areas. It is much like that. We talk about chickens and other animals, trade birds and eggs, eat too much good food, complain about our neighbors and family who don't "get it". We talk about some of the BYC characters. All while the spouses, SOs and kids roll their eyes at us. Lots of fun.

I spent nearly 2 hours on the phone with Rebeka yesterday.

For two people who have never spoken in person before we certainly had a good time and lots to talk about! I hope we can try again for a SS gathering next year. It would be too much fun.

Well golly that would be fun.

And isn't that the coolest thing, FF? So far I've chatted with Sally and Beekissed on the phone before, lots of fun. Denise and Dragonlaura are on my list next =P
