Not to mention all the cheese cuttin'
Mr. Free waits until we are all closed up in the car... :sick Although it is rarely an event anymore since we cleaned up our diets. Only when we really fall off the wagon! Which we do....on occasion :hide

It was really neat having a lunch at Chipotles (I searched and searched for one ever since seeing it on Food, Inc!). I was kinda sluggish in the heat, but we still managed to chat the afternoon away until our butts were numb! We both have patiend dh's....Mr. H23 is a great guy, too... :p

Success!!! I have 10 gluten/dairy/rice/etc.-free apple cider cupcakes in the freezer, one boxed up for DS's lunch and one in his tummy with a thumbs up of approval. He WILL have a home baked treat to celebrate with his class. It's his new best buddy's birthday tomorrow and I got word waaaaaaay ahead of time that there would be treats in class. From his teacher! How cool is that? Never ever happened last year.
Also made daikon pickles, chevre, and drained yogurt for the whey. Made NT bleu cheese dressing for my salad tomorrow which will be topped with left over stir fried beef from tonight's dinner. Almost feel ready for the week. Almost. Forgot to buy balloons for tomorrow night's Cub Scout Pack meeting. I think I volunteered to run some game with the whole group. :he I can pick those up after school tomorrow. Now to get tomorrow night's dinner ingredients ready to throw in the crockpot in the morning. And a load of laundry into the dryer and another into the washer. Sundays don't have enough hours. :barnie

Hen, I'm joining you in the duck sell off :p They have gotten louder and louder and I just know it's going to cause problems :( Maybe it's their hormones, but they have outdone my trombone playing son all week and sealed their fate today. It's been nonstop noise. I'm a little sad about it, but the goats are coming home soon to make up for it.

My three loud ducks make my goats sound quiet... not even a nibble about them on BYC.

Ugh, what a day at the high school. We've always had our fair share of "hall walkers." Today and apparently yesterday a large number of the kids have been out of class more than in. I was at one of the elementary schools yesterday so I didn't see it but apparently they were awful yesterday too. I am frequently in the hall between classes so I see a lot of the ones who are out when they're not supposed to be. Today it was worse than ever, with security and administration constantly patrolling the halls, trying to herd the kids into an area where they could sort them out and get them to class. They were all plotting by walkie talkie how to trap the kids by sneaking up on them from three directions.
Our school is failing. Is it any wonder? Kids can't learn if they don't go to class. Short of using a $40 TSC cattle prod how do you make them go to class??? Their parents don't seem to have the power to make them go. Way too many of them only come to school for the social time. I'm so disgusted today. I listened just before the bell rang as a few kids from the Spanish class across the hall from were hanging out in the hall instead of in class. The teacher tried to insist that they get back in the room. They argued with her that they had to be ready to run out because the "damn buses leave when the bell rings you dumb b*tch hahahaha" And there's nothing that anybody seems to be able to do about disrespect like that. Is it any wonder I am already researching alternatives for DS. He's in 3rd grade....

Yikes! Have you considered homeschooling? Of course, not too many people in this part of the country can live on one income...we certainly could not. Isn't he going to private school now? Hopefully this stuff doesn't happen there!

No, what happened at the high school does not occur in the elementary schools. There are some out of control kids, but it's one or two, not large herds of them like at the middle school and high school. DS is in a Catholic school this year. This is definitely not tolerated there. The school goes through 8th grade. High school is something I already worry about.
Homeschooling would be a last resort, not because I don't believe in it. It just wouldn't be an easy thing for me and DS. We will have to hope for a charter or magnet school for HS, or move before then (my wish-better schools, more land) or save for private HS. There's no way on EARTH I will let him attend the public middle or high school in this town!!!!
I hope not all HS are like this these days..... scary thought!

Edited for completely contradictory typo. Sorry, I'm tired...

NOT Southern, Ca. :)
That's crazy!!! So you say this behavior is not tolerated in the Catholic school? What type of discipline do they use? Or is it that the children there are just generally more respectful? Just wondering.
