Its funny you can access SS from your school. Because I cant access SS the administrator blocked it because it has to do with hobbies. I got on here before school but never logged in and he still blocked it.......

Its funny really.

I can't at the other school and I probably shouldn't be on here either. I'm blocked from other sites though and can't access my home email from here. I can do that from the other computer where I can't get onto SS.

The concert was wonderful! DS sang Jingle Bells in a trio with two other boys in his class. They were too cute! I was so proud of him. He likes to pretend he's shy and gets stage fright but he is finding he likes performing in front of an audience. I knew he would someday, since he is constantly putting on a show at home  My only complaint about the show was that a very tall 2nd grade boy was in directly in front of my very short 3rd grade son so I could barely see him! By the time we realized the problem there were no seats in the gym so we were stuck. I should sell his parents the video I got, because it's mostly of him. :he
I think the rest of the week will be evenings at home for me. I have some wrapping, okay, a ton of wrapping, well, all of the wrapping, to do! I'll do DH's stuff tomorrow while he's at rehearsal and hopefully get a start on DS's after he goes to bed tomorrow night. It ain't happenin' tonight! I've got GF gingerbread cookies to try out, which means locating the gingerbread man cookie cutter. Hmmmm, that might be a good thing to tackle tonight!
I've got one cotton knit dish cloth done. Not sure who will receive it. Started the second this evening while waiting for the concert to start.

Never did get to test drive any recipes for the GF gingerbread men so after running a last minute errand to Target, feeding my family the quickest home cooked meal on the planet, and milking the goat, I got busy. Keep in mind that trips to Whole Foods and our local food co-op all left me without the arrowroot starch called for in the recipe I had hoped to use. Not being able to use rice flour is a royal pain! I agonized over what to substitute and final figured I'd just use rice flour and tell him not to eat, only to decorate. So I pulled out the bag of Bob's Red Mill All Purpose GF baking mix only to find, that after about 36 hours of agoninzing, the stuff doesn't contain rice flour at all. Duh!! So I set about mixing the dough. I followed the recipe, it smells wonderful. I tasted a bit. Not bad for GF. But it's not nearly as doughy as the recipe seems to indicate. Great! I scraped it out of the mixer bowl and wrap it in parchment and threw it in the freezer.
Ah, time to wrap. Everything. I hadn't even started before last night. So I started on DS's things. Which are tucked into every nook and cranny in this little house that you can imagine. And please, imagine away!! Because I'm not sure anymore where some things are! I wrapped and I wrapped. DH went to bed. Even the dogs gave up on me. So I wrapped the last of what I had pulled out, put everything back away in the little closet in the basement that locks, and brushed my teeth. When I suddenly remembered, the cookies aren't going to bake themselves!!!! Yikes! It was now 10:45 and my alarm is going off at 5am. Ugh. I got the dough out he freezer. It was now perfect for rolling out. Right that second and not a second longer. As soon as it was out of the freezer it becam a gooey mess all over again. Ah, and where was my rolling pin??? Oh yeah, it was in the drawer that the mice got in and they ruined it. I don't have one! Shoot. I looked around.... something cylindrical with straight sides.... ah! I think that bottle of Stoli will do nicely. It's not like I can drink the stuff since going grain free. I got one cookie rolled and cut out but then had to put the dough back into the freezer. sigh. Well, Gingey (sp?) #1 is now cooling on top of the fridge, well out of dog reach and his twin is finishing up. We may actually have GF cookies for DS to decorate at school tomorrow! They ain't bakery pretty but they have 2 arms and 2 legs and a head and no extra parts so they'll just fine.
Oh!! And my icing sucess is worth bragging about! The class will be using corn syrup and/or starch laden canned frosting. I looked around at what I had. Bottle of Lyle's Golden Syrup. Hmmm. What would happen if I poured out a few spoonfuls of that and added something powdery to thicken it up? Like, say, cocoa powder. I've got that, fair trade, organic, allergen free... ooooo, it looked like chocolate icing. It even tasted ike chocolate icing. Put it in a sandwich bag and DS can snip off the tip of the bag and pipe it onto his cookies as glue! Glue for all the HFCS free candies and dried cranberries and raisins I got for him to decorate with! :bun
Both cookies are now done and cooling. I'm going to drag myself off for a few minutes of sleep before heading off the HS where I am hoping that we don't get yet another email asking us if we witnessed Monday's fight and if we did, did we happen to see anything that looked like a weapon in either girl's possession. Merry merry!

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Man 5 am came quickly! But there are two big fat gingerbread people bundled in thick wads of tissue paper and packed into a n old lunch box for protection. The icing looks great even if it isn't white and the candies are all labeled (DS safe or not) and packed. He's on his bus and on his way. Now, I work in the public schools where children will be working most of the day and maybe having a little party and movie this afternoon. DS was told that they won't even lift a pencil today! Party after lunch, gift exchange, Christmas movie, school-wide carol sing in the morning. I'm not sure but they may be going to Mass as well. They were given permission to "dress down" ie. no uniforms. DS is in a red and green plaid shirt and cords. He's still dressed up but thrilled. Now if he can keep his hands to himself he'll be allowed to stay and enjoy it all. :barnie

Oh, and he gets out at 12:45, 2 hours early. DH and I have full days. No fair!!!
