Congrats on the hay! The pigs-I mean horses-ate both medium squares that I put out on Tuesday. There was still hay in the feeders, so it should have lasted for a couple of more days anyway. But then again, it's way colder than it should be for this time of year w/temps down into the teens every night! We normally get weather like this in January, if at all. I hate to see what the rest of the winter is going to be like. How's your winter going?
I'd say colder than usual, especially considering by the calendar it isn't even winter yet!! But dry. We've had almost no snow.
Thanks Free! I wonder if I'll get a call like I did when a friend sent a jar of pickles from Alaska and broke and leaked. "Mrs. B, you have a package here and it's, um, leaking. Could you come get it? NOW??" This was at 6:55 in the morning! Can't imagine what they'd do if you don't pack that well!!! :gig

I love it when a plan comes together. After church and the "greening of the church" my mom will take DS with her and DH and I will finish shopping, mostly stocking stuffers at Whole Foods. I may be done this evening and ready to start wrapping.

We won't talk about the 2 new knitting projects I've started.....

Except for some small thing for my mom from DS we are done. Donedonedone. Well, done except for the wrapping.....
I will put together a basket of fruit later in the week to bring to the In-laws so DS and I can snack. We have some clean up to do around the house from decorating, boxes to put away etc. I have cards to get out, just a few. 4 days of school to get through.
DS's concert is tomorrow night. The rest of the week should be free evenings for me. We'll get there. Doesn't really matter. Whether we're ready or not Christmas Eve will be here Friday!

Yay! I found a gingerbread cookie recipe DS can eat! I will be making some for him to decorate at school on Thursday and he can have the rest here. The teacher suggested we make all the cookies with this recipe. I don't think she has a clue what the ingredients would cost for 30 large gingerbread men!

Me too! And so does DS. He is thrilled he is going to be able to participate with the class decorating them the day before vacation and then be able to EAT his creation! Frosting is still a bit of an issue. The stuff the class will be using will be loaded with corn syrup and/or corn starch. I have some chocolate syrup that is allergy free and some safe cocoa powder too. Someone suggested I thicken the syrup with the powder so he can use that as glue for attaching candies (yes, I spent $$$ at Whole Foods on candies he can eat!). There won't be any traditional white icing on his but that seems to be the best I can do. :/

You're not prying!! No big secret, just buried in my journal.... he's got numerous food allergies that were discovered last year working with a naturopath. One of them is corn. And since high fructose corn syrup is so processed I really don't want him eating it anyway. He's a tough kid to feed when it comes to anything beyond meat and veg. He's gluten intolerant AND allergic to rice, corn, soy, cow's milk and several other things. Most prepackaged GF foods are made with rice flour so we can't even do that! Most of the time we do just fine but then throw an activity at me like decorating gingerbread men and I'm scrambling for ideas!

Yikes, it is weird here today!!! (I'm at the High School) We had another fight. There are kids in the halls singing Grandma Run Over by a Reindeer, girls in the bathroom calling out "Marco" and boys in their bathroom next door answering "Polo". Security and adminstration prowling the halls, except outside my room during B period when there always seems to be a group of kids just hanging out and shouting.... Not sure where they belong but they make it impossible for my autistic student to even function. I'm glad I'm not here Tuesday or Wednesday. the elementary school will be crazy too butnot like this. I expect Thursday will be heck!
