you will LOVE Delaware's if they are good quality. I had to pick one of the girls up today and carry her around the yard :love They're SO sweet! And decent egg machines to boot ;)

It is hit or miss with hatcheries in the personality department. I hope they are as sweet as mine. I love going out there to play with my birds. I really enjoy the Del's. I have Buff Orps and RIR's too, but the Del's are by far my favorites.

We've got three of their BOs and they've got great personalities. Our chicks are brooded in the house and get lots of attention and handling so usually they're pretty friendly, at least if they're a breed that is usually friendly. And we're only getting 3 or 4 and that seems to help their personalities IMO. It's when I've had 6 or more at a time that they're less personable.

Chicks should be arriving at my friend's house tomorrow. We'll probably go pick out ours Tuesday after school. The brooder has been cleaned. We've collected all the parts except we haven't found our thermometer yet. Picked up feed today. We've got almost everything except the chicks. I'm feeling a lot like this is the first time we've brooded chicks. It's been two years! I have some reading to do....
I want to start some seeds today since our community seed exchange is next Saturday. I can't find the heat mats I bought last year though. I swear they were in the basement two weeks ago and now they're not. Very frustrating! I've got everything else set up and ready to go but it's chilly down there and those seeds are going to need help!
We're off for a family birthday celebration. All the winter birthdays plus DS whose is next Sunday. I'm not looking forward to it. I've got so much to do here I really don't want to leave home.

Found one!!! Now I'm wondering if I ever really bought a second one or just meant to. I'm thinking the latter.

Bought another mat. Ready for seeds!! Now I'm just sorting what I've got that needs to be planted now and figuring how much of each I want. I have dirt under my finger nails and I heard a PEEPER! One lonely peeper and it is freezing cold out there!!! But it's a peeper and I have dirt under my nails and I am HAPPY!

That's okay, someone on Facebook assumed I meant chicks. Now how could that have been confusing..... silly me!! Don't you all live in my head, knowing I spend the evenings in early spring in CT listening closely for that first peeper frog to peep??? :gig
