Yea, I used to have one of those around here too....

I love that feature however. I never used to really go look up words, I would kinda guess in my mind and move on. But on my kindle it is so quick, I use it alot. I hope it helps my vocabulary. I realized that the first time I read that series I did not understand the plant names and such and I've learned a lot over 30 years.

Now if I could just remember it all....
Ah yes, that is the trick! Not so good at that anymore myself!

Aaaaah, remembered to place an order for allergen free Easter candy in time! Phew! He won't get a lot/doesn't need a lot, but it will be nice for DS to have a few yummy things Easter morning. He'll get one or two little non-candy things. The basket has never been the main focus of the Holiday for us but he'd miss it if he didn't get anything. Glad I didn't have to pay for rush shipping. That candy doesn't come cheap!

Had an interesting conversation earlier with a woman who had some thoughts about all of DS's food allergies. She has celiac's disease. She's read that someone who is tested for food allergies who is gluten intolerant will often show weak positives if they haven't been off gluten long enough to heal. Im going to ask the naturopath about retesting DS when I see her for myself next week. Wouldn't that be a great birthday present for him, to find out he can eat some of the foods he hasn't for over a year. I won't get my hopes up and certainly not his but it's worth asking

That is an interesting theory and one certainly worth investigating!

I have found that since quitting gluten and wheat my tree allergies are much better. Almost no "seasonal" sinus issues. :ya

It really makes a lot of sense if you think about it... when we were bombarding our bodies daily with what is essentially poison to us our whole immune system gets out of whack. Histamines were constantly going wild.

I really hope your son will be able to add back at least some of the foods on his no no list.

The old dog is having another bad day. He doesn't act like he's in pain but he's very sleepy. He can still get around but doesn't seem to care. It's hard to explain. He didn't even get up for breakfast. Once DH brought the food to him he ate though. I don't know what to think other than he's almost 14 years old. I don't think we need to do anything today. I'd really hate to. It's DS's birthday. The last dog that passed died at home the day after DH's 50th birthday and I'll always think of it that way. :/

DS is being a poop head. He didn't get as many presents to unwrap as he thought he should. He's getting riding lessons for crying out loud!! His grandparents sent 4 really awesome books. We gave him some books too. My mother got him Misty of Chincoteague with the matching Breyer horses (both Misty and Stormy). Friends gave him another awesome book and the husband's old riding crop. They've ordered him half chaps but they haven't come yet. We got him his own riding helmet and boots. Sheesh! He's got birthday money. I'm making him bank a good chunk but he wants to go to Target to get a new Lego set. I'm so irritated with him.
I'm making him a pizza tonight. Breads from Anna crust mix, homemade sauce and goat's milk mozzarella on top. GF chocolate cake. None of it is good enough. Man, I'm grumpy!

The chicks are all still alive and peeping. DS has named them Emma, Cloe, Petunia and Henrietta II. Don't ask me where he gets these names. The ducks he named are Spotty and Quackers. That at least made sense!

Remind him not all kids are so lucky. Last birthday AND last Christmas, my boys got nothing. I made a special meal and hubby bought special nice things to eat. My mother bought them gifts and that was the only person who did.

That was it.

Funny how being real broke has made them say "thank you" so nicely when they get something now. My older son is actually an adult at this point and buys his own food, and thanks us when we provide a meal.

He got over it. He collected all his birthday money. I told him how much was going into his savings account and he made a reasonable choice of a Harry Potter Lego set. He finished his homework in record time to be able to start putting it together.

LOL How old is he again??

They get over it ;) Eventually they get their heads back out of their asses and remember that what's given can be taken away. By irritated moms.

He turned 9 today. He is over it. I think on some level he knows he is darn lucky that we are managing riding lessons. It's a small farm and her prices are very reasonable compared to most places I looked at. It's costing less than his former gymnastics class. But since you can't open riding lessons and we didn't wait to surprise him with them tonight he was suffering some.
The pizza is in the oven and looking awesome. The crust mix makes two so I froze one for another day. I only had enough goat's milk mozzarella for one anyway. I'm going to treat myself to a skinny slice despite the carbs. DS is drooling waiting for it to come out. He hasn't had pizza in over a year!
