No no, Edna is Mama duck's name. She wouldn't let that thing near her babies. She won't let ME near her babies. The snake's name is "It'. As in, "Is It still out there?" "Can you see It?" and "I swear if It moves I'm going to scream!"

Beautiful garden!
Thank you :D We've eaten some romaine lettuce so far. I've got some Asian greens that need to be thinned and will add those to the next salad. I've got one grape tomato that's getting a blush to it. :weee Lots more green tomatoes and cuke blossoms galore. I had to pick off two more cucumber beetles. Radishes soon. Aaaah!

Nice pictures! So pretty except that snake I hate them rthings!
You and me both! DH couldn't believe I was able to take a picture up that close considering I usually scream bloody murder when I see one, even if it's a garter and it's 20 feet away from me... I hate hate hate the way they move. So unpredictable. But I do know how much good the garters do in the yard so I let 'em be.
We did have one garter snake many summers ago that liked the shrub on one side of our front door. The shrubs were the kind that were trimmed in a barrel shape with a flat top. This snake would wind its way up and sun itself on the flat top of one of the shrubs. The only time I used the front door was to go out to get the mail and nearly every day that summer I'd forget about that d$%# snake and go out the door when I heard the mail truck, only to have the snake coil up, ready to strike at me. I'd shriek, the snake would slither down the shrub and the neighbors would all have a chuckle because the snake and I were both too stupid to change our routines and quit scaring the poo out of each other!

We had a resident black snake for years in the orchard I hated it but they help with pests so I had to restrain. It always creeped me out........

Beautiful garden! Love the daisy pic with the water drops on the petals...so pretty! And daisies are my favorate flower. My mothers name is Marguerite...which is french for daisy. Maybe that is why I like them so much, I don't know:)
I always loved hunting snakes as a young girl...used to bring them in and hide them in my dresser drawers...my poor mother! When I got older I got myself a 6 fot python as a pet...haha...crazy girl I was.
the best was at my wedding...a big garter snake came out of the bushes at my outdoor reception and raised quite a ruckus with the guests...most of whom were standing on thier lawn chairs shreiking. And me, in my wedding gown, walks over, picks up this snake and hurls it back into the bushes:) Much to the surprise of everyone there...but those who really knew me weren't at all surprised. My husband looked on with pride. But even he wouldn't touch that snake LOL!
