Ah homework and school work woes already. Sigh. We're making headway with the homework and have open house tomorrow night. His teacher said she would talk to us at some point and we'd figure out some way to encourage DS to focus better in class. Ugh.
Work continues to be stupid. We tried walking through our tentative Monday HS schedule and I'd say a little more than 50% of it actually works. Tomorrow we will begin elementary school scheduling. A whole new set of nightmares. Whoo hoo!
Cub Scouts start officially tonight. I wonder if I'll have any new boys. I'm supposed to have a discussion with them about fitness and the food pyramid. We'll discuss eating real food versus crud from a box, etc. I'll be darned if I'll tell them to drink low fat milk and cheese and too load up on grains.

:he another one of those days..... feels like we're trying to work miracles in an impossible situation at work. And my supervisor is soooooo resistant to change. She insisted we sit and do the elementary school schedule again. She did it her way. I would have done it differently. I tried to make one suggestion and she didn't want to hear it so I shut up. I'll put that energy into studying for my certification soon and won't have to listen to her so there :plbb
Kiddo is making some improvements in his homework completion time. He reports he's been working harder at getting work done on time at school. We had open house at his school last night. His teacher didn't corner me yelling and screaming about what a horrible child he is so maybe there's still hope.... I had a very nice conversation with the cafeteria's head chef who suggested maybe I send in some ingredients to match the school menu and he'll cook things separately for DS. Like GF bread and goat's milk cheese for grilled cheese. I told him I'd write up all that would entail, such as making sure not to use cooking spray with soy lecithin, etc. and maybe that could work. He doesn't have a real "big picture" for the situation and may not realize that it's more difficult than he imagines but it was really awesome of him to even consider it. I had made some GF brownies for the potluck and he offered to freeze them and thaw one for DS when he serves brownies at lunchtime so DS can have his own.

We also have a "no news is good news" policy with Max and his day programs!

Well, she had mentioned in passing when we saw her at the mall on Saturday that he was taking too long to get his work done and easily distracted. Well, that's my kid. Nothing new there! She sent a newsletter to all of us last night and I responded that we'd like to hear more about his distractibility in class etc. and I have yet to hear anything. So I'm assuming it isn't too bad. My mom tutors one of his classmates and she keeps bringing home unfinished math classwork. DS hasn't so he may be easily distracted but apparently he is getting the work done. He had to stay in once for recess to finish something. She learn fast that taking away his recess is just shooting herself in the foot. He needs downtime to let out that energy!

Still no news from school. I guess we'll here at onferences next month. I did email her but she didn't answer. Then I emailed her a question about Scout popcorn. She did answer that one saying she'd get back to me with an answer but she never has. sigh..... Guess I'll go with that no news is good news theory. She didn't give them HW over the weekend so I am having my mother tutor him inmath a little. He chose his own "reward" for doing it; clipping brush for her. He's clearing a path and he loves doing it.
He got to ride a different horse at his lesson yesterday. I haven't seen his instructor l
put anyone as new as him on this horse. He did really well and showed a lot of improvement. I took a bunch of pictures. i'll put one up in a bit.
We saw a man huddled under his coat pressed up against the wall of the closed up movie theater near the school's parking lot today. DS can't make sense of it.
No plans for the weekend It's going to rain anyway. CT's biggest fair takes place but at this point it's too far and too big and I just don't enjoy it. So we wiil clean and cook and freeze meals. funfun!! It will be nice after a long week We're up and running with schedule at work. Mostly it's going smoothly. We've had a few high school kids withdraw and some schedule changes. Some of the issues were due to my supervisor doing things the way she always has and not listening. We get along great most of the time but when she's stressed like this it's really tough.
Soooooo very glad it's the weekend!

But not AS relaxed as with the pony and the Haflinger.

Here I am being critical, but he is too much on his butt and he has lost his leg in the second picture. I am sure he had a lot on his mind at that moment.

I really like his hands. He has a great line between his elbow and the horses mouth. He has nice light contact. :thumbsup
