I don't know as any of us realize how much time we spend on our feet when we're not doing much of anything.... :/
Boy, oh boy I do! With my arthritis and neuropathy I have about 15 minutes of "on my feet" time before I am in a lot of pain. Standing is something we all take so for granted. I remember I used to just stand around and visit with a neighbor, for example, for an hour or more without even batting an eye.

I hope you get good news about the ankle and are back on your feet really soon. :hugs

Thanks! At this point I can't do that either. I served as acolyte this morning at church. I forgot that I should probably have asked someone to cover for me. The up-down part at the beginnign was fine but communion takes about 20 minutes and I have no choice but to stand. Youch! And carrying the cross in the processional I took a funny step and wobbled a bit. I can't even imagine tripping and falling with this huge brass cross. I'd have wnated to crawl under a rock!! I've always had issues with my flat feet and weak ankles. It's not surprising that 6 days at camp climbing over rocks and roots on the paths day in and day out was too much for me. I just thought I'd heal faster than this!! I've been wearing the brace thingy for a day and a half and I've already noticed a little bit of a difference. :fl

Maybe you need to use a crutch.

Can't someone step in for you on the walking duties at your church? Perhaps the good Lord wants someone else to step up and perform that duty.....literally. I'm sure you will be back to your old self in no time. But for now, you can't be slipping and falling and trying to work like normal, you need to give it a chance to heal. You probably feel better with the brace because it is protecting you from further injury. I'd try to get a cane or a crutch so you can stop weight-bearing until you get that x-ray done and know what is going on.

Sometimes when you become unable to do something, it teaches someone else how to DO it because they have to learn.

I can definitely get someone to step in at church. I just have to remember to ask! :hide I'm headed in for the x-ray in a few minutes. Depending what it shows I may be referred to an orthopaedist. If it shows nothing the family doctor said it might be worth getting a bone scan to see if there's something deeper that might not show up on x-ray. Once I get to school today I will talk to my supervisor about what to do about getting my students up to our room for services. For 10th graders and up I can get away with calling their rooms and asking that they be sent to me. For the 9th graders I'll be able to do that soon, but they don't know their way to our room yet. Kids in the auditorium for study hall, I'll have to pick them up but there's only a few. There's no phone in there so I can't call for them. We'll figure it out.

Sometimes it is good to just tell them the doctor's orders!

I hope he finds something easy to deal with!

Spent an hour at the hospital. The radiology check in area is shared with the lab so when the silly woman called "Kristin" I hopped up and went in, only to find she was ready to take my blood. I asked why she was looking for blood when my doctor had ordered an x-ray??? She asked my last name and it turned out she was looking for a "Christine" but didn't know the difference between the two names :smack. So back out I went only to receive a dirty look from Christine, who I happen to know is the wife of a famous author so I quickly figured out the lab tech's mistake so there :tongue After that all went smoothly. They took 5 pictures and I got a yoga workout trying to stay in the right positions! No news from my doctor's office yet.
I only ended up missing 2 kids. Out of all the others only 3 weren't on the 2nd floor. I went down to get two of them but then was able to call for the third. He never showed up to his study hall anyway so in the end it didn't matter.
Scouts tonight will be a sit and listen affair. Poor boys!
