Thanks guys! We've made a good dent in the packing, which is saying something in this heat. I'm headed out to take the puppy to my parents' house. He'll stay there since he needs more frequent trips outside. The older dogs will stay here and Mom will come check in on them three times a day. She takes care of the birds and cats too. It's hard to leave them all!
Waiting for the temps to drop here but the thunderstorms seem to have missed us. Still really hot and very humid. I'm really looking forward to mountain weather!

Finally cooling off some. We'll miss a nice dry weekend here but except for some rain expected about the time we're due to arrive at the campground(but of course... what would camping be without rain to start you off wet! ), we should have nice weather in NY too.
Don't know if I'll have time to check in in the morning. See ya!

Sooooo tired! Driving just sucks the life out of me sometimes. :/
We had a great trip with fantastic weather. No rain while we were there at all, possibly a first for a camping trip for me! It was actually pretty chilly with highs not really getting above 70 and lows in the 40s. I slept really well until last night when the cold air in the air mattress got to my back and it got really achy. So I got up and quietly started packing up. I've got pictures off the camera but not upload to photobucket yet. I'll get to that tomorrow. I did post pictures of the Almanzo Wilder Farm on the Little House books thread:

That was a fun side trip!
Also visited Ausable Chasm. Took waaaaay too many pictures! Need to step away from the computer!!
I am hoping to pick peaches this week which means cleaning up from the trip (I think the trunk threw up!) and getting all supplies lined up before I start. Things are a little disorganized around here. It was so hot while I was packing for the trip that I didn't do a very good job of multitasking and keeping things in order so we didn't come home to chaos. And now that CT has enjoyed a nice dry, cool weekend, it is warming up so that I will have to deal with all the mess during another warm, humid week. Sigh.....

Welcome back Hen!

I hope you enjoyed your rest, even though those things seem to actually make so much extra work! :gig

The Wilder home sounds so interesting! Tell us all about it when you get a minute. :pop

Will do. I did post some info on the Little House thread. Of course I was there with more of a SS attitude which didn't exactly match that of anyone else there. They all looked at it as a quaint little place that happened to have been written about in a kids' book while I'm getting nose to nose with stove while trying not to actually touch anything looking at where all those yummy foods would have been cooking, IF it had been the actual stove that the family owned!

 I just received not one but FIVE emails from DH with pictures of vintage camper trailers! Seems he's been bitten by another bug... We saw one on the way home, early 60s, small, rounded. I think he thinks he's too old to be sleeping on an air mattress in a tent or something.

Sounds like you had a really nice trip...I am going to have to go read the The Little House thread...I am embarrassed to admit that I did not know that was a real family!

I hear him Henrietta!

We have a camper shell for the pickup and a futon mattress!

I line the truck bed with an indoor outdoor carpet, made drop down curtains for the camper, and fit the futon up like a REAL bed with sheets and pillows and the works! Then I cover it with a canvas drop cloth and we throw our camping gear and luggage in and the big cooler by the tail gate.

We can go almost anywhere with our little campsite, (remember we even got it stuck in the Cimarron River this summer!) and all we have to do to camp is pull the cooler and gear out and put it into the front of the truck and then crawl into bed!

We camped with tents for years. NEVER again. I also would not want one of those big RVs either. I actually LIKE to camp ... not bring my house into the wilderness.

Those old RV trailers were really cool and I bet the price is right as well.
