Thanks everyone! (all of you post pictures now, I love pictures!)

Anyone know if palm oil goes rancid? I had to buy 7 pounds of it, but I only need 5 ounces for my recipe.

And I tend to avoid the Haggen near Samish (near the college) because the college students make it loud. The loudest thing I hear at this Haggen is two dogs barking at each other from the walking trail. :p I love Haggen. They have all these made to order things... Chinese, sandwiches, burritos, salads... And their dips are yummy! It's funny that I like them so much, but buy from them so little. (expensive!!)

Oh, I forgot to say, I've also ordered from Bramble Berry, I order my fragrances and pigments from there, I like them too.

Here are some other soap sites that could help you.. I saved these all when I ordered and did research, funny, I have everything I need but I haven't made soap yet..

http://www.camdengrey.com/essentialoils/277a/
http://www.biodieselbarn.com/ (I ordered my lye from here, but I don't plan to again, too spendy)
http://www.thesage.com/calcs/lyecalc2.php (good site for calculations when expirimenting with your own)
http://www.peakcandle.com/default.aspx
http://www.essentialwholesale.com/
http://millersoap.com/
http://www.oregontrailsoaps.com/
http://www.northcountrymercantile.com/soapmakinglibrary/
http://soapmakingforum.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=1 (not a member and never posted but sometimes I look up recipes here)
http://www.newdirectionsaromatics.ca/
http://www.canwax.com/page/page/251746.htm

And of course my favorite multi-organic & herbal site:
http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/index2.html

I would also like to know about the palm oil.. I had to order a gallon to get enough for the recipe that I'm going to use..
I'd like to hear how your soap making goes!

Great links! I've also ordered from Mountain Rose. It's their Castile Soap I've been using. I got beeswax from them to try to make chapstick someday. I found a stick blender for $12.99, and a big enamel pot for $13.00, so once I get that I'll be all set. And I'll have enough for several batches. I got Red Apple scent at The Soap Bar (BrambleBerry's retail location in Bellingham) and it smells SO yummy.

I bet it does smell good. Did they send a sample?
I ordered the 'Santa Spruce' in November because I thought I was gonna make it that month and give the bars as gifts for Christmas. We couldn't find all the oils, so maybe I'll have to give the soap this coming Christmas.

The sample they sent me was 'Winter Grapefruit' which I really liked, I ended up throwing the whole thing in my homemade deoderant. :)
Not sure how safe that was, but I got it for soap right? Probably safer than any of the store bought deoderants.

Edited for spelling.

Oh, I didn't really order from BrambleBerry because they are located in my town. So I just went to pick it up at their retail store. So I got to smell it for myself! Honestly, most of their store is fragrances.

I'm so happy! I can officially make soap. I think I'll make it a bit later today. I was going to order a stick blender from Amazon, but I found one today at Goodwill! It was $6.99, and the alternative on Amazon was $12.99. I also found a stainless steel pot, for $9.99. So $17.00 as opposed to over $25.00 online. I'm pretty happy. And these are one time purchases. I will be able to use them for a long time.

Also, I looked at the date on the price sticker for the blender... It was dated yesterday. I had never seen one at Goodwill before. Plenty of normal blenders, but not the kind I need. :weee

How lucky are you that Bramberry's is so close?

I really want to order some things to make soap with but my plate is so full right now that I don't know when I would ever get around to it. So you make soap and post pics.

Pretty lucky! Also, if they carry something on their website, but not in the retail location they can truck it over the next day. Like my scale. It's $20 on their website, but they don't stock it in the store. The one they do stock is a lot more expensive. So they drove it over to the store for me. :) They also offer soap making classes, and have samples in store. And you can open and fragrance to smell it.

I'm currently waiting (rather impatiently) for the oils and lye-water to cool. The scary part is yet to come! Getting to trace!

Okay, okay~

Observe the horror which is my kitchen! What if someone wanted to see the house? Note the many jars of palm oil, that will last me a long time.

My makeshift mold and lid. A baking pan covered with waxed paper. (Please don't tell me the lye will eat through it, it's too late now!)

This is why it's too late. My lovely soap! I think the color is awesome. Just olive oil color. The whole house smells nice.

Oh, this is the journal I was talking about.

It looks good! I don't know if it eats through.. I'm planning on pouring mine right into plastic containers and the mold I bought.

The writing is a bit difficult to read, but it would make it much more interesting!

You kitchen looks nice! And you have a bowl of lemons.. I have no idea why it wouldn't sell.
