Hey HennyPenny! Welcome back! I was just wondering the other day if you were going to come back soon or not.

My dad has the same type of problem with his feet. He got it when he was in the coast guard.

GirlOnTheRun- Your avatar is great! I so want to get chickens! And it's nice to know people like to read my strange ramblings. :gig

I wish there was a sure-fire way to kill the fungus. Sadly, not even lamisil (if I wanted to take it) is 100% effective. It certainly can't be healthy for a fungus to be GROWING on me. I once fought it like crazy and made tons of progress, but then I had to take a trip and kept forgetting in all the hubbub. At least at this point I know what works for me. Vinegar (any kind, white or apple cider), tea tree oil, and certain OTC treatments such as Fungoid Tincture. But nothing, NOTHING will work if I do not soak with vinegar. If anyone has had luck with something else, don't be afraid to post it, (or PM me if you're shy!). I can't wait to move to a place were I can go barefoot most of the day and not worry about seeing 800 nosy neighbors! That's really the best way to kill the buggers.

Every day I listen to hear if one of the nice neighbor's hens has started laying. I will smile so much when I hear that egg laying cackle!

Oh, my parent's business is picking up! Roofing. If someone on the news says that the hard times are over boom! We get jobs! So although we still want to sell this house, we're not in as much trouble as before. Of course, I'M still personally broke, since my work is cutting hours again but that's normal, lol! I keep thinking, if I have to stay in B-ham, maybe I should look for a better job. Then I think, no, I don't want any more ties to complicate things. So I end up staying were I am and worrying.

I want to make a new purse, and more soap but have to wait at least until I get paid. Ahhhhh can't wait!

I haven't bombarded this site with pictures recently, so here you go!

I bought this massive two pound block of yeast at Costco for something like $5.99, the same price as the tiny jars at the grocery store. Buuuut I have yet to decide how to store it. Some in a jar in the fridge and some in the freezer in a ziplock bag?? I dunno!

This is my brat of a cat. I've had this cat bed since he was a kitten of three months old. He never ever slept in it until I put it on the chair. Now he loves it. Well, at least I didn't waste my money totally. (Was actually a gift card!)

Anyone seen lolcats? This is my feeble attempt to imitate them.

Wow! That yeast is gonna last you a while! I think I would freeze half of it in the original package and wrapped tightly. My bro-in-law has one of those vacuum sealers with jars he uses for his frozen stuff and it has done a great job on keeping the yeast.

I dropped a huge book on one of my toes last winter - I fell asleep reading. And that one toe is ugly! I think it may have a fungus, so I have been treating with tea tree oil, but nothing terrific to report so far, as I just started treating it a week ago.

ETA: On the soap, HP... one of my friends owns a fruit farm and she intentionally has a rough look to all her labels. She uses brown paper for her egg carton and bar soap labels that have rough torn edges. She get $4.50/dozen for the eggs and $7 for her soaps. So some people don't want "la-tee-da" packing and looks. Just say you are "green". ;) :D

Keljonma- Tea tree oil alone doesn't help me, the vinegar soak seems to be some key. I put the tea tree oil on while the nails are still somewhat soft after the vinegar soak, and it seems to be absorbed very well. I hate this fungus, it's so stubborn and gross! Be careful that it doesn't spread to other nails, if that's what it is. That's what mine did. Took seven years, but now every single of my toenails have it to some degree.

How do you keep it from spreading to the neighboring toes?

That brought to mind a little "toe coat" to keep it isolated! :gig

Hey Henny...I buy those big packages f yeast too. I refill a little jar I keep in the fridge and the rest goes into the freezer. Works perfectly.

I want very much to make some soaps for the holidays. I would love it if you had a recipe to share!
