Today I let my young girls out into the big back yard. They loveeeeed it. I was getting kisses left and right. The grown rooster mounted one of the girls so he got exiled back to his pen. Then the grown hen dicided to get a mouthful of another one of my babies. so she joined him. ughh.

But the babies were very good. They scratched and explored, staying away from the dogs pen. They all went back in the coop when I fed them, so they are all tucked back in.

Got dinner and a movie from hubby. :love We saw super 8. Really a good movie. My eight year old son loved it.

Daughter leaves in the morning for a week of overnight church camp. She's excited, and I'm looking foward to a week alone with my boys.

So the roo is humping the babies. They arent squatting or doing anything to show they are ready, but he's mounting them anyway. they squeel and run. They are about two and a half months. He's feeding them and calling them and protecting them so I guess he thinks they are his ladies. I wanted to ask, is this ok. I assume he would only really hurt them if he pinned them down and they are too small and his big fat butt squished em. IDK.

Everyone's roosting in the coop. So its all good.

We trapped a possum night before last. By noon we had 9 possums in the trap, seems she was to be a mama.

So she got a repreave and we let 9 chicken eaters out on the loose. Just couldnt kill the babies.

Had a good day. Got the money from the ex from the lawyers today. So the kids are getting a pool. And I'm getting a bunch of things done. Daughter is getting a trumpet. Hubby is getting a laptop. Son is getting a bed with no wires poking out of the mattress. :hide

The heat and drought is gross. I've had enuf. :somad

:ep You let them go! Oh lord girl, what are we gonna do with you....did you at least take them away from your house to let them go?

You should get memory foam mattresses....no box spring required, soft and cushy but firm. I love ours so much we got the kids both one of their own. Since it doesn't need a box spring we just cut plywood to fit underneath and covered it with old towels so there wouldn't be any splinter issues and voila! I think it cost us around $350 for my son's full mattress and my daughter's twin altogether. They sleep like babies!

We got Dormia brand, it's the knockoff brand of memory foam but still good quality. We got the queen size for us and it ended up costing us $700 but we got it at a different store. Love it, I don't sleep well on a regular mattress anymore. The other thing is that they are rolled up and vacuum sealed so you don't need a truck to haul it. We actually stored my daughter's in the box under her crib for a year before she was ready for it. It fit in the back seat of the car.

great idea. The memory foam has always sounded like a great thing. So comfy.
I found a frame and new mattress for 200 dollars. Big Lots. So I figure I cant find too much cheaper.

Yeah, we let her and the younguns go on the other side of town. The possum clan were given a repreive.
Hubby said he was shocked how none of the babies were left behind, they all clung to her and she just got up and ran and he even checked the trap for any left behind babies. Gotta admit the babies were so cute, like lil kittens. So we couldnt kill em.

Ewwwwwww.....

The last time I saw one of those overgrown rats it met the business end of a shotgun.

Dang thing was in the chicken nesting boxes taking a nap after eating the eggs.

Ewwwwwwww......

When I read "chicken eaters out on the loose" I thought you meant hungry chickens that wanted baby possums and got excited. Then I read the rest.

Well, at least you have a heart unlike me.

LOL. We have killed dozens here. If we leave the trap out, we are guarenteed to catch one. But this was the first time to find one in labor and delivery.
We will give them time to grow up before we kill em. Makes no sense I know, but I couldnt bring myself to kill the lil ones.
