Well, goin' out on a limb here (man, this forum is a bit more volatile than what I'm used to), but I don't really see why it's looked down upon, either. At least someone is buying the stuff-the money goes to Salvation Army, and their stuff isn't sitting on a rack waiting to be bought. Personally, I've never bought anything from Salvation Army-don't even know where one is. But if someone wants to buy something, and thus contributing to the cause, isn't their own personal business as to what is to be done with the merchandise that they invested in? You can either invest in the merchandise and keep it for your own personal use, or sell it. Why is that a bad choice? Even if you choose to keep it for yourself for awhile, you're probably going to end up selling it, whether it be on Ebay or at a garage sale, or whatever. If you can make a profit, then good for you for making a good investment. I've only been on this forum for a few days, and I can tell you... I was excited for the first couple of days because of the wonderful information that is provided on here. As I continued to read, however, I was very unpleasantly surprised at all the negativity. It's obvious that we all come from different walks of life. We're all from different parts of the country, and practice different values based on our own personal families and cultures. Why do we have to point out and criticize those differences? The beauty of a forum like this is that you can focus on the similarities and common interests that bring so many unique individuals together. So what if this person shops at WalMart and this person doesn't? So what if one person is a 'tree-hugger', and maybe another person just wants to learn how to make some soap? So what if our political views aren't all exactly on the same wave-length? So what if some are living off of 20K/yr and others prefer to have a little more money? Although we all share some common interests...namely, wanting to learn how to be more self-sufficient, we are all very different from one another in other areas of life. Everyone has the right to learn about self sufficient living, no matter what their lifestyle, income level, or political views. I, for one, would like to be able to participate in this forum without having to worry about what some of you are going to point out and criticise. I don't think that's the spirit of this forum. Let's all focus on what's important and be nice.
