 I'm prepared for not only french toast, but quiche too! The hens are back to work.

I'm so tired today I won't move unless I have to. Haven't been sleeping well and last night I got maybe 4 hours. DH is coming home early to let me nap. My 4 year old is a chatterbox busy body right now and rest doesn't happen around her.

When my kids were little (and dinosaurs still walked the Earth) my hubby worked second shift.

He had a game that he played with the kids called "Car". The first step is that Daddy lays down on the sofa on his side. His legs are bent and the arm closest to the sofa is stuck straight up in the air, with the other arm around it to hold it secure. When Daddy is ready all of the passengers (He had a three kid car) would get in between his curled up legs and the couch. They would take turns "driving" with the up right hand being the steering wheel. They would sometimes play "Car" for a couple of hours. Talking to the car, and each other. Driving all over to destinations unknown.

About three years ago my D1 now 26 was remembering about playing the game. She suddenly said, "You were ASLEEP!" to hubby and he said that of course he was! She had thought he was playing with them the whole time.

 That sounds like my hubby. He can nap with them crawling all over him. As soon as I try to snooze, I hear "mommy, I gotta go potty" or something as equally pressing. I don't even try anymore :) We are almost out of this stage.

So how are your goaties, Java.......?

Mine are big fat huge pigs! They have tripled the amount of hay they eat. I suppose that is normal but we are whipping through our hay supplies. Do you know if they will continue to eat this much hay when they are lactating? I would assume so. We need a bigger hay barn!

I'm no longer worried that they are not pregnant however, it has become obvious they are.

The goats are good. They keep knocking the mineral feeder off with their big bellies. We already moved it once. I guess I'm going to have to attach it with screws. They are sucking down the minerals like candy.
Sounds like mine are right on track with yours - mine eat nonstop too. 3 weeks to go! I guess I'm ready. I sure do hope they birth during the day though. Perdy is so huge right now - she's going to look like a whale in 3 weeks. I hope she doesn't have quads in there.

I can't wait to be sharing photos - I bet you will have some really cute kids from yours. I hope I get some color from mine. The buck we used was flashy, but I hear that white/cream is dominant so who knows :hu

I haven't found anyone nearby to help disbud them, but I think my hay guy will know someone.

We are pretty broke going into the birth of goats....I sure hope we don't need a vet. I also don't have any Bose so those two things worry me. This stopping work thing for me was not very well timed for the goaties. We decided to buy a used disbudder but haven't found a used one on sale. New ones are about 80.00 at the local feed store but I really can't justify that expense in our budget at the moment. Have you ever heard of using disbudding paste? They have that there really cheap, like 7.99. It says you just rub it on? A person at the store was saying it works well but why doesn't everyone just use this paste stuff then? One of the ingredients was lye, too. I was thinking their horn buds are pretty close to their eyes. I would think a hot disbudder wouldn't be too great for the eyes either but would be quicker. Are you going to disbud yours yourself?

Hey, good luck with the kidding. Since so many people have been posting udder pictures, I think I have figured out that 3 of my unknown girls will probably go in February. Udders are about the same size.

I sure hope your kidding goes much better than mine did with Surprise. Dead kids suck. Surprise didn't even build an udder so I won't even get milk from her.

Savingdogs - There is a thread somewhere on BYH about the paste. Towards the end of the thread a couple people who use the paste told how they did it. You may want to search for it. It was a while ago.
