According to the people I bought my goats from, yes.Javamama said:Do you know if you need to supplement selenium in your area? Our soil is deficient here so Ohio folks need it. I'm not using prescription BoSe. I got some selenium gel from the feed store to have on hand, but I'm using an herbal copper/selenium from FirMeadow. com. I give them the herbal all year round as needed - the instructions recommend about 2 tsp. weekly, more if needed - like now during the final month. I got the gel just in case I need something stronger. It was around 7 bucks for a big tube.
According to my former employer, no.
According to selenium maps online, we are deficient. Everyone around here pays more for "Eastern" hay because it is grown in the part of the state that is dry and higher in selenium.
I have chosen goat minerals that contain selenium and I see it listed on their goat chow. I'll have to look into that gel......I'd rather ask a vet for Bose some time when I need an appointment and not pay for an appointment just to buy Bose! I didn't realize there was another way to give it straight, thanks.
